Is anyone cruising with me on the August 27th 2011 Meditteranean Cruise? Hellooooo?

At first, we were planning to walk/taxi to the station as early in the day as possible, and take the train into Pompeii. But, since we'll have a 9 year-old and 7 year-old, we've been considering changing plans to Herculaneum instead.

Sounds like Herculaneum is a lot less walking, more intact ruins (oxymoron?), and may leave the kids in better shape to check out the archaeological museum in Naples in the afternoon.

Anybody here have thoughts on Pompeii vs. Herculaneum?

Anyone interested in a morning group stroll to the station (as I have no sense of direction, and would probably never get there...)?

I think our three families (the austravellers, Halos, and JeanJoes) should hook up on the ship to agree a plan - we have 3 kids (girls aged 11, and 9 and a son who will be 6 in a few days) so it seems like we have plans in common.

We received one set* of our travel docs today. :cool1:

* we have two cabins

just got home from work to find that fedex had tried to deliver my documents, very excited just got to find time when i will actually be in to sign for them.:cool1:

Hi got my documents today ....... DH rang me in work to say they had been put through the letter box :cool1:

Not in the US, but we also received ours today:banana:

Only problem is that they only mention one passenger in the travel party. Apparently DGF is coming along anymore according to DCL!!

IS DGF at a different address? If so, she will probably get her own set at her house:goodvibes

Nope, we're both at the same address, which is even more confusing. I've also checked online to make sure she is still on the reservation and she is. She doesn't even show up on the port adventure reservations, again I've checked online and she IS included within the reservations.:headache:

That is really odd:confused:

Sounds like a great idea. We can go to the station together -- Jean thinks it may be the same train that stops first is Herculaneum and then goes on to Pompeii -- not sure, though.

The ages of the kids may work out nicely too -- our girls have just turned 9 and 7.

Warning -- it'll be morning, but I might have to get gelato along the way... You know, to have enough energy for the whole day of touring, right? :mickeybar

In case people are curious, here's what DW (who is Henwen, btw) has made, for our first ever fish extender.

The pockets and black backing are the only things fastened together so far -- the dowel, name plaques, and iron-on Mickey images are just placed on top for now.

I like the Mickey hands (they're from Once Upon a Toy for Mr. Potato heads), but I think it might make it too wide to fit, so those might not make it to the final product.

While DW was responsible for the FE, I was supposed to come up with goodies. I'm afraid that I'm going to be the lame one :( Real life has sort of stomped on me.

Hi, a WBTA cruiser here, checking your thread to see if you had received room numbers for GTY. Saw this post and thought I'd throw in my 2 cents, as I did the Med last year.

The gelato at Pompeii is great; the best we had on the cruise.

Oh that is adorable :goodvibes

Good luck Roni--I really hope you are able to get a table for the group:wizard:

I got an email from Disney confirming receipt of my fax, and there is an opening still available, but can't be assigned till 7/27, so odds are looking good

Hello our family is also on this cruise.

Introducing my Family:
Ellen, DH, DD15 Leontine and DD9 Alexandra. This will be our 4th cruise and our 3th in the Med.

We have booked this cruise on the 27th on the ship last year when we did a 11-night Med on the Magic in August and were doubting what we would do in the week before, finally we decided to do our first b2b so we're very excited that we are already on the ship when you guys arrive! We originally booked a cat 9C and are happy to be upgraded to a 5B with balcony on the 7th.

Our kids love the kids club. Last time we hardly saw them. This cruise we opted for second dining, and we look forward to see with whom we are going to be seated.

I'm a Disney lover for live and the girls are also pretty addicted. We visit Disneyland Paris on a regular base as we've had a yearpass for 10 years now. Been several times to Disneyworld in Florida.

Look forward to see ya all on the Magic and have a Magical time!
:welcome: I have added your info to our website!

What is everyone doing in Naples?
We have a private tour booked, so really nothing set in stone except Pompeii.

Speaking of meet ups, did we ever decide on a time and place for the adults (well EVERYONE really ) to meet up on the first day?

I would like to meet in mid afternoon, while we are waiting for cabins to be ready would be the best time. Also, are we still doing the Domino's Pizza meet in Barcelona on Friday evening?

I have just rung disney as I wanted to know when the character breakfast was to be told they are not doing any on the 7 night med cruise - do you think this is correct :sad1:

That really has me bummed if that is the case. Since this is our first cruise, we would have liked to experience the character breakfast. Oh well, atleast we get to enjoy a brunch (hopefully) :)

Anyone in the US get theirs yet?
Nope, not yet.... we did have a delivery from FedEx, however it was our Euros :yay: But no Disney docs yet.

Cute Fish Extender!! She did a great job! My vote is to add the mickey hands... can you make a slit in the hands so that the fabric slips into the slit and the hands can overlap the fabric? I think they would really tie it all together.... definately don't nix them though! Hmmm.... what can you give as FE gifts???? Well, seing how you are from Boston... maybe some Boston baked bean candy? Or Salt water taffy.... yummmm, my mouth is watering as I type.

That is very encouraging :goodvibes

I would like to meet in mid afternoon, while we are waiting for cabins to be ready would be the best time.
Cabins are usually ready at 1:30. I was afraid if we went that early that people may not be onboard yet or will still be eating lunch. I wish we knew if they were doing the muster drill at 3:00, 3:30 or 4:00--it would make it easier to pick a rime that gives everyone a chance to get onboard but also does not rush everyone (meeting around 2-2:30 assumes a 3:00 o'clock drill). Is anyone following a Med cruise (from this year) trip report who wants to ask what it has been this summer?

Also, are we still doing the Domino's Pizza meet in Barcelona on Friday evening?

If the group still wants to I think it is a nice way to get to know people. I would strongly encourage doing so :thumbsup2 However, I am VERY iffy if our family would make it. Long story which many may want to skip coming up ;)

We usually drive to port. Our friends who are sailing with us were going to drive to port as well and kindly offered (before they even actually booked the cruise) to let my in laws ride with them since we just have a VW Passat (can't seat 6). About 6 weeks ago our friends decided that HE is not going on the cruise and she is bringing her 20 year old son instead. This means the friends are flying as they she cannot drive his work car down (and that would be the car they took). So we were suddenly faced with 6 people, a small car and high airfare prices (we almost bought airfare months ago because it was a good price but our friends talked us out of it because they thought it would be so fun to all drive together:rolleyes1).

Soooooo, we needed to fly two people (including those two taking the train to the airport from our house--one street car and two trains journey) while four drive. David and I are the only legal drivers on the car. My in laws are great travelers but getting to where all those connections (in a language they do not speak) are a little daunting AND they were really looking forward to having those hours with their son since he will be out of town working the first week of their visit. The kids are really good travelers, have flown alone before and take the trains everywhere. So, at the end of the day the lucky kids get to fly while the rest of us are stuck in a car all day :lmao:

We had planned on leaving Thursday evening and driving about 1/3 to 1/2 of the way that night and finishing up on Friday. However, I will not leave the kids alone over night so now we are just going to get up and out early and drive it in one day. If we do not run into any major traffic snarls we would be in Barcelona around 6:00-7:00, but I cannot count on that;)

We're in - I can eat gelato ANYTIME.

Our cruise docs came too!!!! Very excited.

Hey sorry I haven't posted for ages as I've been working very very hard so have had no time for my computer :(

So I'm really happy that so many people have been upgraded!! That's fantastic! My family and I have been upgraded - we booked 3 cabins on 10C gty as I've been on many disney cruises and know we won't be in the rooms much at all and we've all been given 9B outside cabins together on deck 2 ( I prefer the lower decks :) ). So am really very pleased - we are all together and are really looking forward to it! I can't believe its only 35 days now - ahh!!! I have 3 more days left off from this vacation from work and then back for lots of hard work before going on cruise. Yes I am extremely sad and have pretty much sorted out my suitcase and whats coming with me hehe - but once I go back to work monday I'll have no time to sort anything and I only have 3 weeks between my cruise and my florida trip so have 2 holidays to sort out in this week!!

So hopefully will see some of you out and about around the ship :)

Take care all and not long now!!

Kirsty-Lou!

Got our docs from the FedEx man :yay:. Not allowed to open them till 'er indoors gets home from work :sad2:

I've got 2 more weeks in work before a fortnight off, for the kids , then 5 days back in work before we fly to Barcelona :woohoo:
