Is anyone cruising with me on the August 27th 2011 Meditteranean Cruise? Hellooooo?

Palma is the only place we don't have planned. We are thinking we might just wander in the town a little and then enjoy the boat.

So what has everyone decided to do in Palma?:confused3
I have every port for both cruises planned except that one. I am overwhelmed with options and still a bit confused about where we will be docking and how far that is from town. I'd love to hear what you all have found to do to get my brain in focus:upsidedow

Palma is the one port my plans have not changed. I am doing the DCL bike tour and really excited about it, a bike is a great way to travel.

Before kids my husband and I did some amazing bike tours, including riding a tandem for the first in Garmisch Partenkirchen:love:

Wow that sounds intense? Well we are hopefully doing a Barcelona bike tour on our pre-cruise day (yes the day after the red eye flight!:upsidedow) and it's supposed to be a SLOW bike tour....just my speed!

Here is a post copied from cruise critic that may help. The original posted asked if they could walk tothe town from the port: Yes, we find it no problem walking into the city from the port- it's about a mile, but flat all the way. If you stay on the sea side, you should see all the classy yachts in the harbour. The other side of the very busy road has hotels and shops.
There will be a shuttle bus, which will park below the cathedral, then it's a short walk up hill into the main squares with all the shops.

ps all, weather picked up,no storms night at present or rain! Temp now 37 hot/hot/hot!
Been busy painting house (each summer/Greek thing)

Pretty well ready to go!Looking forward to it,speaking my own language with native speakers for a change! As said previously, you will here us speak bilingual,it is normal for us as we swap and change being dual med family!:cool1::cool2::headache:

I can't imagine having to paint the house each summer! We have been working on painting the outside and I can't wait for it to be done and am thankful to not have to do it again for 10-15 years!!!

Thanks. I had seen hast one but then also others who said it was 4 miles in an industrial area, which is largely why I am confused:lmao:
If kids, why not consider marineland on own,see www.marineland.es (mallorca)
It is approx 20 mins bus ride?
Thanks:goodvibes That does look nice and possibly good for all ages (we have the kids--12 and 14 but also the inlaws 68 and 75). Do you happen to know which bus line goes out there--I know several bus numbers pick up near the port.

There are many buses that go to marineland, but the dolphin encounter biologist has told me that there is even a stop near the cruise terminal too!

If go to google and put in buses timetable palm, there is a printable sheet of busses that go to marineland. Also on marineland we page, there is also a list on how to get here!
Alternatively, a taxi is approx 20 euro

Hiya friends!:goodvibes

We will be having a beach day while in Palma. Anyone know how the beaches are? My son loves making sand castles and I know alot of beaches in the Med are mostly rocks :/

My ds and I will be staying on the boat while in Rome as well. The sun is BRUTAL and there is very little shade in the more popular spots (waiting in line for St Peters Basilica and the Vatican Museum *buy tickets online for vatican to avoid loooong line* as well as the areas around the colleseum) I would recommend bringing an umbrella or a parasol to shield the sun. We went in July last year and there were many ppl using parasols. You can buy them for less than 5 euros all over Rome. We are using this day for some much needed rest for the little guy and Mommy too lol! DH and MIL will be taking the train to the city because MIL has never been to Rome.

How is everyone coming along with the FE gifts? I have the children pretty much done, now working on the adults. When is the deadline for the FE? I will keep checking back for new comers!

Not long now!!! Can't wait till we get our GTY assignments!!:banana:popcorn::

Ok, so I just want to confirm if this is correct? We have 19 cabins for the FE exchange (17 girls and 10 boys) is this correct? I am including myself in the count. :goodvibes

I am positive that this month and possibly next (Aug) weather will peak to hottest on record! Today reached 40 hot/hot! I love the heat, but even today, I had to take breaks in shade(with beer on hand of course)! I live on beach 50 metre to sea,so after all upstairs painting finished, took time to relax and swim in sea with Tiff etc,Unfortunately, my husband is tourism/front office hotel manager,so busy at work!So he is ready for a break himself!
Temp soaring now! Will keep all informed! ps do not forget your mosquitto repellent for night in med,if forget easy to buy from 1-5 euro!

Being in med!
recommendations after reading a lot of crap also on sights!

1) hat/cap/headband extention/water
2) Sunscreen
3) aloe vera (sunburn cream)
4) Immodium (????? craps)
5) Headache pills (after heavy drinking etc)
6) insect repellent & after bite solution
7) camera/video (to capture those moments)
8) learn on google ports
9)business cards (future contacts)
10) enjoy the Med

ps to clarify!
We do not wear jeans in summer (only at night perhaps mostly men)
We wear bikini/shorts/tops/flip flops
The less the better, due to heat!!!!!!!!!

I read so many incorrect reports!
Basically, yes you will see suits, this is because of their work(dress code)!
Even my husband, but when home and out wears summer casual wear SHORTS/FLIP FLOPS!

did you end up buying the dolphin encounter experience? If so what time is your "encounter" as I thought they were only mid pm?

No GTY assignment yet!:headache: Last I saw there were only cat 4A's left.

As far as our cruise being empty, not likely as there are currently 43 cabins left on the entire ship. They are all balconies so if you have an inside or oceanview, maybe you'll have some pixiedust!

Hey, everybody...we are still GTY. I am anxious to know about our cabin! How do you find out how many cabins are still available and what categories?

Thanks very much!

Hi everyone I'm new on here, although my kids have posted a few messages over on the teen thread. Suddenly we have just over a month to go, and I think I'm more excited than the boys! I have a little one who will be four by the cruise date, and another who will be nearly seven. Both are diagnosed with autism, although the youngest is only mildly affected. The older one however, has decided he no longer likes disney characters!! He might have informed me of that fact BEFORE i booked! Although we have cruised before, this is our first DCL so could I please ask a few questions?! (Sorry if the answers have already come up, I started to read the thread from the beginning, but ended up skipping 50 or so pages!)

The fact that the boys are special needs, will it mean they won't be able to be left in kids club? (Both are extremely well behaved, but have their individual needs.)

Do you have to pre book kids club, or can you come and go as you please?

Will we be able to get a dining table just for our family, as meal times with my children are always stressful, and the boys won't want to have to talk to new people at their worst part of the day (actually neither will I which is such a shame!)

What's the on board store like? My boys are already planning what they want to buy (based on what you can get at the Disney store at the mo) is it similar to the stores in Disneyland?

Thanks
Angela
