Is anyone cruising with me on the August 27th 2011 Meditteranean Cruise? Hellooooo?

How formal is formal night? DH wants to know...coat and tie, tux?:surfweb:

You will see men in everything from golf shirts and khakis (those who do not dress), to blazers, to suits with ties as well as tuxes. My husband and son will be in tuxes. We have been on cruises with as few as about 10% of men in tuxes and with as many as 60% or so. I think it was around 30% in the Med last May. I have no idea if that # will hold steady or not.

DH and son will be wearing tuxes. I just got DH's bow tie and cumberbun today to match my dress in color. Son will probably wear black bow tie, still debating if I should match his tie to my daughters dress or not, but he might not want to wear a pink or purple tie :rotfl:

As if I haven't spent enough money on this trip already, tonight I just had to buy this dress for our formal night. Now I need to find my dh a turquoise shirt to match!

Nice Dress!!! I am sure you look fabulous in it if you had to get it ;)
We will be wearing turquoise too, maybe more teal in color... so we will be coordinating w/o even trying :cool2:

You guys! It is Med!Formal dressing is part of the experience!

I agree.... Formal night is part of the experience, this is our first cruise, ever. So we are looking forward to formal night and a good family picture with Mickey that might end up being or Christmas card photo for this year :santa:

So excited! Purchased the Euros for the trip today....have been monitoring exchange rates for the past two weeks and figured I would get it done.

This coming week get to purchase our tickets for the tour at the Vatican!

Looking forward to this trip!! In 2 months and 1 day we fly out =)

DH and I booked Palo's for formal night. But, we still plan on dressing FORMAL! Tux and long dress. We love dressing for dinner. I think it makes DH feel a little like James Bond. I wore a small tiara on our last cruise and boy did I get the stares! The little girls loved it though! :)

After seeing photo's of Barcelona and Villefranche on a previous post, I'm about ready to jump out of my skin I'm so excited! I just hope I don't make a fool of myself squealing or crying or all of the above!

Hopefully I will be able to buy the TGV ticket to Disneyland Paris soon and I am going to pre book a Colosseum ticket too, as I plan on taking the train into Rome. Anyone else planning on taking the train into Rome?

Yes,we will be taking public train to Rome return! Also, been informed that there is now a faster train available/tickets can be purchased as come out of cruise terminal apparently, this came from a person in Italy who gave me info!

I have info/instructions on public transport for the following places!Direct from them!

Rome Vatican/fountain (train)
Pompei (ancient city) (train)
castle and dinosaurs museum (bus)
Villefranche (little train ride from port/then beach)
Palma Marineland with Dolphin Encounter (bus or taxi 20 euro)

ps anyone else doing Marineland/print your discount vouchers on-line www.marineland.es and pay at park and if Dolphin encounter wanted let me know, I will give you the person/marine biologist/tainer reservation e-mail contact! However this encounter is only available in advance!

Anyone who wants details can e-mail me or pop message in my FE

Let me know if you hear anything more on this train.

I will not hear anymore and think I have the info! When I looked at train time-table, I saw that there is an express train that takes 40 mins, I have copied the train schedual and printed it!
As I have with all other places on my list!
I have learnt that each place is easily accessible and you save a fortune in going alone and can choose when to rest or return at your own flexibility! eg marineland compared to excursions,we save approx 100 euro and we get to see all shows and my daughter a dolphin encounter at our own pace! and for us Europe med is our home,so we are comfortable using public transport and going alone!

All my info, corresspondence, I am happy to scan and e-mail or discuss privately aboard ship!Di

As my husband is in Tourism industry,(hotel front office manager)we have many contacts in Med and access info easily and are used to doing excursions alone!

We like to go at med pace,SLOW,relax sit, drink, enjoy without being told what to do and being rused like the tourist trap!
Ok, I know some will say that easy for us as live med and mix inn,but generally med are hospitable and helpful and like tourists to experience the culture first-hand. Show respect and you will be treated special!

Hi Again

Those were our initials and ages.
I am
Yvonne

OKay i get it now. Usually the initials you see are things like this and not people's actual initials--I can totally see how that would confuse a new person:goodvibes:

DW (Dear Wife or Darling Wife or Disney Wife)
DH (Dear Husband, etc)
DD (Dear daughter, etc)
DS (Dear Son, etc)

Welcome on board Yvonne (that is my mom's middle name BTW).
