Hey All!

I know the Free Dining is coming up, which is alot of food in my opinon. But are you afraid of gaining any weight while vacationing at Walt Disney World? I do have my ADRS done but I really have to watch what I eat or I could easily gain 6-8 pounds :scared1: We don't get the FREE DINING because for us it's not worth it and like I said it's way too much food for me. But I do enjoy going to the restaurants at the World. I will have my Main Street icecream sandwich though! LOL

Any thoughts!?

Thanks so much!

Gaining weight is the last thing on my mind when I am on vacation.

I figure with lots of walking and if I stick to Diet Coke I can eat as much as I want.:rotfl2:

Oh, and I don't step on the scale when I get home. What I don't know won't hurt me.

I diet most of my life ;) so when I go to walt disney world I try not to worry about over eating/counting calories. That being said I hate to feel FULL and have to walk around the parks. I typically only eat half of what is served to me. When I go to counter service I will usually split hamburger and fries with whoever I am traveling with (if they are up to it) It's all about balance so maybe have fruit and healthy cereal for breakfast at the buffet and indulge a little bit at lunch. Drink lots of water and dont worry about exercising you walk so much at walt disney world you burn extra calories that way.

I also diet most every day of my life, so going to Disney and gaining a couple of pounds is no big deal to me ! I eat whatever i want for the week and could easily gain alot more if it were not for all the walking ! :rotfl: i always lose the weight after being home for a week

I worry...and that's becuase I worry about my weight just about everyday in my life...

I never gain an ounce at WDW, but I usually gain 8-10 pounds in the 2 weeks after getting back. I get used to eating like that and come home and don't do all that walking and poof! more belly.

I wouldn't worry about it, I rarely gain any, and if I do it's only a pound or two. You walk a lot, so that burns a lot of calories.

LOL. I gain weight on 99 percent of the vacations that I take. Taking the time to eat on vacation is a significant part of all my vacations. Its one of few times I splurge on eating. I hardly ever eat at a TS restaurant at home because I know I will gain weight from fat and sodium content. I am on a diet now. I have lost 11 pounds since my last WDW trip in November and I hope to lose 10 more, so that maybe I will have a little wiggle room to eat out again and not feel so guilty about eating on my next trip to WDW. I am petite ,so I have always had to be concious about what I eat but it sure gets a lot tougher when you are over 35. Its such a bummer. I have cut back on calories, fat, and sodium and its so hard to just loose a few pounds. Recently I reduced the amount of meat that i intake(not that I ate alot of meat), but it seems to be working. Yeah.

My husband and I went once to WDW and did the Platinum Plan in addition to staying GF RPC. I gained enough weight that week that I had to wear sweats home on long flight because my pants were just too tight.

So yes, now I worry about it. I still enjoy some treats but I try to be sensible about it.

:lmao: Gain weight at WDW.......:rotfl2::rotfl2: No way!

There is to much walking, moving and constantly walking...oh wait I said that already, to gain weight.

If everyday life was like going to WDW I could eat anything I wanted, when I wanted and not care.

Nope don't gain weight while at WDW. Infact I usually lose a few pounds. AND that is on 2-3 snacks a day with all the food at meal time!!! :scared1:

3500 calories is one pound of fat. It seems difficult to net enough calories with all of the walking you do to gain any significant amount of weight during your week or so vacation, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. You shouldn't really be able to gain more than two pounds in a week and that would be really gorging.

I went twice in 2009 and gained 3 to 5 lbs both trips. That is why we are not doing the DDP next trip because it causes me to want to overeat since I paid for that food.:guilty: When we went without the DDP I didn't have any problems.

I'm not a huge eater but I really enjoy good food. My plan is DH and I will split some meals and share a dessert this time. Reading the dining reviews has been helpful to me to decide which meals and places serve big portions so that we will know to split these meals and not overorder.

Good luck, I'm still trying to lose that last 2 pounds from last December's trip.

we're the type that eats either breakfast and a mid day snack or a piece of fruit and a light lunch then do dinner at home so we try to stick to this when we're at wdw. i drink water during the day rather than drink sodas etc... and try to stick to healthier snacks but allow for the occasional ice cream or other type of junky snack just not every day. for us iportion control can be harder when on vacation so when we're on the dining plan we still use it but just don't feel the push to eat every single bite.

I usually lose about 10 lbs on each WDW visit--even with the DDP!

Now, if only I could do that on a regular basis at home... *sigh*

We were @ the world in 08 for a week on the basic dining plan. I ate desserts with lunch and dinner, snacks etc. I ate WAY more then I would have normaly eaten. I ended up loosing weight!!!! I sure it was because we walked MANY miles each day. You know your walking alot but you really don't realize just how much. I am a person who has to watch what I eat and by our last day my clothes were hanging on me. Of course about a week or 2 after we were home I gained most of it back. We did tour commando style. Don't worry about what you are eating, just have fun and enjoy. We will be @ CBR at the end of Aug for 9 nights and i'm going to eat whatever i want, especially since i have free dining!!!

This is a worry for me. We are doing free dining, more because it was available when we were already planning on going and we knew we wanted to go to at least 3-4 character meals since this is the first time at WDW for our kids. We are also doing the Disney Cruise the week before we go to WDW, so it's a double trip. I eat pretty healthy normally, and work out regularly. When I am on vacation, it is much harder to work out because I don't want to miss out on things with the kids while I am at the gym. Having said that, we typically walk a ton when we are at Disney but normally go during a much cooler time of the year. We are going in August this year, which is ridiculously hot so we won't be at the park all day long like we typically would be. I plan on getting up in the morning while on the cruise and taking a walk but the gym on board is usually much too crowded. My strategy is just to try and avoid things that I would easily get at home (which for me means bread! and take a few bites of things I want but stop when I'm full (or before).

Good luck to both of us.

Yes, I worry about gaining weight, that's because I have gotten to
the time in my life where it is getting harder to lose any weight that is
gained, no matter how much I walk. I used to never have that weight
problems when I was younger--I could eat anything I wanted and never
gain weight. I will be reviewing all the items on the menus and picking the
best foods that won't cause as much damage.

I usually lose weight at Disney, I only eat two meals a day there, at home I am good for four! Lol

Nope - I watch what I eat everyday in the real world, I won't do it on vacation!!! Besides, the amount of walking I do (I'm the FP runner) I burn off most everything I eat. :yay:

A little. I'm trying really hard to lose, but I know with the DDP I'll eat more than normal! But I can always give up a dessert ;)
