Is an annual Pass worth the price?

My sons and I are stating at RPR for four nights in July. We've reserved a room with a CAA discount(15%).
I have purchased park tickets for my sons (5 days for the price of 2--$100.00).
I was considering buying an AP, hoping that there will be an additional room discount.
I guess my question is this--would I simply be smarter in buying myself a ticket package like my kids, or should I buy an AP for $180.00? Is there any word whether the hotels will have AP discounts for July?

I look forward to your comments, and thanks for your help!

Keep checking the room price by putting in APH. If the price drops, book it as AP rate, you dont have to have the AP first. Then get your AP, you may have to show it when you check in. If the price never drops you can just get the ticket special and pick it up at the kiosk.

Of course you do get extra discounts on food and merch. with the AP. I ordered one even tho I'm not sure if my room rate will drop. I figure with 5 of us I will save enough anyway. :hippie:

if your room price drops - absolutely buy the AP!! I am going for 1 night for Mother's Day ( spending the prior 3 at Disney)...originally had booked the room at HRH for $259....ok, it's a Saturday night and I said, why not? then when I went to look at ticket prices, I rechecked the room with APH in the code and my room came up at $169... you bet I booked and bought my AP!! it paid for itself right there and I haven't even eaten or shopped yet! I base this on the fact that my online ticket would have been $100 ... I also picked the monthly automatic payment so my Amex gets charged $15 and change per month.....well, well, worth it...

have a great trip!

I too purchased the AP with the flex pay plan so I could get the $149/$169 nightly rate at HRH. I just received my AP in the mail and it states after expiration, my AP will be renewed and credit card charged $16 per month. If you wish to cancel, you will need to contact them.

I thought its $99.95 to renew? With AAA you can renew for $97.95. I'd check into them still charging $16 a month after the first year.

Because renewing is so cheap we love our APs not to mention the 20% off park merchandise, 15% off park restaurants and 10% off CityWalk Restaurants (ok not all participate but enough do). The week before Christmas they were offering 35% off park merchandise (I did a lot of Christmas shopping there). Imagine buying $200 worth of things and only paying $130. Gotta Love it. DD20 is still wearing her Betty Boop slippers.

I *think* you can give them a months notice to stop the monthly charge so you can renew at $99.95

Yes a AP is worth the price! I didnt know you get a renewal discount with AAA! Thats great to know!! :D
