I've noticed there are port adventures listed in San Diego, has it ever embarked / disembarked from there?

Planning our trip from the UK for next May around an Alaskan Cruise, is it likely, if so we'll plan the cruise in the middle of a 3 week trip, if not, we'll plan it at the beginning.

Thank you :)

No.

There's one cruise that goes one-way from San Diego to Vancouver to change ports, then another cruise at the end of the Alaska season where it sales from Vancouver to San Diego, but there are no Alaska-from-San-Diego itineraries. I'm guessing those two one-way sailings are what are confusing the Port Adventures listing.

A San Diego cruise to AK would have to be closed loop and stop in Canada at some point under US maritime law, or would have to be SD - AK - Vancouver. Passengers would not be permitted to leave early (i.ie. never reboard in AK).

I've done round trip out of Seattle and Seward (AK) to Vancouver on other cruise lines.

Do you see San Diego listed when you select "Alaska Port Adventures" as the destination? I do see Seattle, probably because there was a year that DCL cruised from Seattle. But I don't see any for San Diego in that list.

I guess the stop in Victoria and missing sailing the inner passge was enough reason to opt out of Seattle after that one year? I'm glad we took the time to drive up and see her while she was there!

I think the change back to Vancouver from Seattle had more to do with the LA-Vancouver-Seattle (or Seattle-Vancouver-Hawaii) B2B debacle.

DCL only sailed from Seattle for one season, 2012, which is the year we sailed to Alaska. We did stop in Victoria near the end. For us, we had very limited time off from work, and back then I could only get one week off during the summer. So we chose the last week of August leading into Labor Day weekend. So the cruise ended on a Monday, we flew SEA to Philly, and all had to get up early for work and school the next day. That was rough but at least it was do-able. Totally worth it; no regrets.
