we have reservations to eat there for lunch one day and i am just wondering if the food is good..is it good for kids...etc..any info would be great..thanks..

I have just recently posted this same question as I too, have a lunch plan. After investigation, I have determined to switch from a lunch to a late breakfast seeting. We are not adventurous food people and my children will not eat funky cheeses and breads and cold fishy stuff. Breakfast is normal, everyday kids stuff, but I am not paying all that money to really eat nothing. Check out the menu on allears.net I think it is called. Leaves alot to be desired, if you ask me! I know that everyone has really strong opinions about this place, mostly negative. My family, including my very picky kids, think that this is the best restaurant in all of Disney, if not all the world. The kids menu has normal kid food on it. The only thing that is "funky cheeses and fish" is the appetizers and they had different appetizers for the kids. Now that they have returned to the appetizer buffet, there should be plenty of choices available for even the pickiest eaters. My kids, as well as DH and myself, can't wait to go back.

I agree with Lorik. My DDs ate better at Akershus than almost anywhere else all week. They had a grilled chicken breast, potatoes, and corn, which they love. There were several, good, relatively healthy, options on the kid's menu and it was a nice break from all the breaded, fried chicken strips and fries they'd been living on since we arrived.

Of course, if the menu for the adults doesn't appeal to you, that's another issue. We liked it, but we are adventerous eaters and we like fish. I can see where the adult's menu would not appeal to everyone, but I wouldn't cancel based on the kid's menu. Check out allearsnet.com to see the menus, if you haven't already. :)

We are looking forward to going back and checking out the buffet. :flower:

If neither you nor your children are adventurous eaters, then skip it. Check the menu on wdwig.com. Everyone should try it once.

I have shied away from Akershus for years, and am sad that now that I am finally going in two weeks, the old buffet is gone. I am not at all picky, and don't know why I avoided the place in the past.

I am dying for more reviews of the new format. I am going because we are taking DH's parents, who are from Norway. Will the food seem authentic to them?? Anyone?
