Is airfare always less if you book 14 days in advance?

My trip is coming up 2 weeks from tomorrow and I still am not seeing great rates. I have not booked yet. If I wait, is there a chance it will go down or if you wait until after the 14 day window is it probably gonna be higher? Just thought some of you frequent flyers might know.

Typically the advance purchase fares are going to be less, and they'll just go away once you hit the 14 day, especially the 7 day, window. Once in a while you'll see some specials close to the travel day, but I wouldn't count on it. If you see some fares that are acceptable to you, I'd probably go ahead and book.

In most cases, yes, if you're within the 14 day window prices will be higher then beyond the 14 day (and some even 21 day). Also, remember, it's not just about the booking windows, but capacity. Airlines have significantly less capacity then they did in past years, so they are able to keep their flights fuller, which means less seats being left unfilled and selling at below profit making prices.

I booked my flight for the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend six weeks ago, and they have been steadily going up - I checked yesterday and there are only about 12 seats remaining on the plane and the fare has almost doubled what I paid - and that isn't for another almost five months! Phew.

I travel frequently for work and often buy tickets inside of 14days and I do not EVER remember seeing the prices go down inside of 14 days (it may happen but it is rare). My suggestion would be buy now
