IF we were to buy a small add-on....
It is tempting to buy at a different resort but is it really worth it????

I would LOVE to have the ability to book at 11 months at another resort as well but with only a small amount of points to use it might not cover the points needed for a vacation and then too much of a hassle to combine points, etc.

Currently we use a lot of points for one 8-10day trip every 1-2 years. (Flying from NE, School breaks, 2bdrm villa) We have 300 at BCV which should be OK as long as we don't want to bring anyone down, etc.

Does anyone have an opinion on this?? If we would only do a small one, then should it be our current home??

IMO small add-ons are more of a hassle than they are worth. I would add-on at your own resort. You can always stay longer or at larger accomodations when you have all your pts at 1 resort.

Even if you did a 50 pt add-on at another resort, you would have to bank and borrow and use current years pts to have a decent stay of 150 pts, especially if you need a 2BR.

"Good luck" which what ever you decide.:D

Well, my personal experience is that a small add on just provided temptation for me and 40 points has turned into 185. You may have more self control!

My question to you is - how much do you really want to stay at the other resort? You may find that a small one is not enough and get that add-on fever again.

If you want to continue to take vacations the same way that you have been doing, than a small add on at another resort would not make sense. You would not have enough points to book a trip at the 11 month window. I think in your situation, I would add on at BCV.

OK.... you guys make sense. I guess with all the talk of add-ons at various resorts I got a little jealous. All the resorts sound so great that I would like the 11 month window for them all. For us it would be nice to reserve at VWL or a GV anywhere at 11 months to compliment our home resort of BCV. For our high point consumption trips, it would have to be a add-on of at least 120 to make a trip every three years at that resort (with VERY careful planning). I don't think we need to have that many total points. (need is such a relative term!) It would be great, but that dues bill would be a shock!

 My DH just read my post on our laptop!! Opps! He thinks 300 pts is just fine.

Thank for the reality check.

.....but maybe a few more at BCV......

If you want stay at HH in the Summer or VB at March Break/Easter than an add-on at those specific resorts (even a small one) might make sense to open the 11mo window for both WDW vacations and non-WDW vacations

We own at BCV and VB and will probably add at SSR at some point - I find having different resorts ok as long as they have the same use year - I would not want to track combo of multiple UY + multiple resorts

Thanks for asking this question. I asked the same thing in a roundabout way a few posts below here. I will probably get similar answers, although it looks like it might be headed for cyberspace as I am writing this.
