Is $667 the best I will get for 3 non-stop tix in april?

I found tickets for my family of 3 to fly from Rochester, NY (ROC) to MCO in April for $667, they are non-stop flights and at the perfect time of the day for our schedules. I'm worried there will be a sale and I will end up having paid $100 - $200 more than I want. I'm also afraid that if I don't book this flight now...all the non-stop flights will be gone. The non-stops work great for us as none of us really likes flying and the shorter travel time would make a big difference IMO. I know that the airline prices will continue to fluctuate but the price isn't the only thing I consider, the times of the flights and the fact that they are non-stop are the reasons why these are so attractive to me. My airfare limit is $700 and this falls within it. I don't want the dreaded buyer's remorse though!

This is the cheapest I have found, jetblue is $10 more BUT there is a layover at JFK on both the way down and the way back home. I've found flights through Orbitz with Delta, United and US Air that are atleast $50 - $90 over my limit. All of those flights have one (or more) layovers plus the times of the flights are kind of blah, on the day we go home we'd have to be at the airport at 6am! On airline websites the prices only go up and up and up. US Air was $1326.00 for our dates and times, with stops in NC that include 2 hour layovers. I could get flights for $750 but that would mean layovers and 2 legs of the flight being in those 37 seater prop planes (eek).

Okay enough rambling (sorry this is long and thank you if you're still with me at this point) Should I book now and get it over with to end the stress of watching the airlines like a hawk?!

::MickeyMo I think that's a pretty darn good price for 3 people in April! Usually they jack up the prices so ridiculously because of spring breaks and such. I'd take it and run! LoL ::MinnieMo

It doesn't sound bad. I might go ahead and book. I assume it's Airtran you are going on, right? I see they added a second flight to MCO!! Also what are your dates? That can make a big difference as to if there will be any seats to go on sale later. Are you going during school break? We are from ROC (Honeoye Falls) and our break is the week after Easter. I sort of assume most in the area have that week off as well. If your flight are around that time, buy them now and be happy. Even if you aren't going then it isn't a bad price and you will have them. We are going down Pres. Week (Wed. before to Friday) and I should have bought mine earlier. It started at $330, dropped to $260 one day and now is at $370 and our return flight is almost filled. We could drive to BUF but it is Feb. ...and SW hasn't opened up their flight schedule yet. I think I'll bite the bullet and buy them today.

Gee,We fly out of Albany,NY and the lowest price for our dates the beginning of April is over $300!! And that's with a connection in each direction.
I would definitely be happy with the price you got!

I would say grab it as well. I wonder if it is Easter week that you are going as I know the kids are usually out of school. I was told by an airline person that those weeks are rarely discounted because they don't need to do it. We are going Thanksgiving week and I paid 600.00 for 3 tickets as well and was told this was a great rate. So good Luck!

Okay, I am in the same situation...except that this will be our first time flying so I'm just not sure on what kind of "deal" I can expect if I wait or how / if I can cancel if there is a better rate.

Detroit to LAX (since the difference to Orange County SNA is like $500) looking at 4 tickets the end of April and last night I found on Travelocity $895.00 which is like $400-$600 less than I've been seeing for these dates.

What do I do???? Is almost $900 going to be about the best for 4 for these dates? Thanks so much!!

Dawn

United Airlines shows $214.30 RT PP total with taxes for the end of April....
I would not book thru Travelocity because they tack on a $5.00 per ticket fee.

thank you all for your opinions, I just am getting so frustrated with watching the fares go up and down and back up again. I think I will grab the airtran $667 tix and run, I figure even if they do go on sale it won't be astronomical amounts and I am still within my budget anyhow.

lisa...hey there, :wave2: another western NY'er! Our dates are April 29th - May 9th. Our schools have vacation the week of Easter (April 17 - 21) and I know some schools in the NE have vacation the week after that so I went with a little later in hopes to miss the crowds. I'm thinking by time we go the crowds from easter and extended easter breaks will be fizzling out.

Disney moma...I hope you find a good airfare, this is so frustrating! Let us know what you find and if you decide to book. I

Just an FYI my dsis lives in Tampa and told me they run a little cheaper. I was tempted so I checked it out...3 Tickets for my dates (April 29 - May 9th) from ROC to TPA came to $565. These were also non-stop flights! The only reason I decided not to book it was because I wasn't looking forward to the 1.5 hr drive from Tampa to Orlando but if in a bind I would so take it. The $89 each way is the regular price, not a sale/deal.

Personally, I think if some of the smaller airlines come out w/sales, prices could go down. I also am looking for April from Pgh, but let me tell you what just happened to me several weeks ago on United when I booked for 11/12.

I know Nov. is not a really busy time going to MCO. But we wanted to leave on a Sat. (earliest as possible) because we're only going for 3 nights. The best price is could get was on United (connecting in Chicago) leaving Pgh. at 6:25 Arriving mco at 12:40pm. The United direct at 7:30a arr. Mco 9:45 was $425. So I booked the 6:25 ($181) but thought how ridculous to spend 6 hrs. traveling to MCO.

Last week when AirTran & SW came out w/their sales - guess what. That United 7:25 am direct flight went down to $181. I tried to get our seats switched but of course I would have to pay the $100 fee. Meanwhile there are only 5 seats left on that Chic. to MCO flight & lots left on the Pgh. to MCO flight. United did tell me if I had booked the flight for $425 they would have refunded the difference via a voucher. Why in the world would I pay $425 to fly to Fla. for 3 days????????????

I'm in Syracuse and our April break is April 10-14. So we are off the week before Easter. I booked flights from SYR to West Palm Beach for break week on Delta for $218 per person. We are taking a 7 night cruise out of Miami 4/9-4/16. I check every so often and the same flight I have has gone up as high as $545 and has been $390 and even once it was at $297 but not even close to the $218 I paid. So I'm very happy I booked when I did.

I think your $667 for non-stop is a great price and I would jump on it before its gone. I have driven to Roch and Albany for cheaper flights before but am thrilled to be able to fly out of SYR airport, which is less then 3 miles from my house.

Good luck in your decision....

Lori

I'd take it.... for three reasons...

#1 If it's within your budget... do it

#2 You've been watching the prices... you see how volitale they are

#3 The peace of mind knowing that they are paid for... makes the trip real!!

I paid $737 for two of us traveling around Easter... those prices are long gone and now are over $900 per person because only first class is left! Being such a heavily traveled couple of weeks due to Spring Break... go for it!!!

Good luck!!

I agree. If you can buy them now do it. It's more likely that the prices will go up instead of down. Just because of that possibility I bought my ticket for my Feb trip about a week ago. This way I no I have it bought and it the rates or fuel surcharge goes up, I don't have to worry about it.

Generally, if I'm going somewhere for a "peak season" trip, I'll buy as soon as a convenient flight meets my budget rather than wait around to squeeze every dollar I can out of a fare. If I'm going in a "low" season, I'm much more willing to risk it.

In this case, for less than $225 pp nonstop roundtrip from the northeast to Florida for a spring break week, I'd buy.
