Is 11:05am departure flight too early?

If you're cruising from Port Canaveral and want to fly out of MCO, Disney recommends flights after 11:30. That said, a lot of people have caught 11 a.m. flights with no problems. They use private transportation (instead of the DCL transfer buses) and they do express walk off as soon as the ship clears customs. (They keep their luggage with them so they don't have to locate it in the terminal after the cruise. If everyone did that with a lot of luggage, the elevators and hallways would be impassable.)

With an early flight you run the risk of the ship not clearing customs on time, the roads may be jammed due to a wreck, TSA at the airport may be backed up more than usual. If you're willing to take the risks without stress ruining the end of your vacation, then go for it!

We took our time getting off the Wonder at Galveston a couple of weeks ago and took a cab to Hobby. We arrived at the airport at 10 am. We would have had no trouble making an 11 am flight. There were very short lines for check-in and security. However, the week before, the Wonder was late arriving to the port due to weather. Also, I would have been thinking about making the early flight for the entire cruise. IMHO, a 11 am flight is very doable, but I would go with a later one.

A lot of folks would tell you no if you are doing MCO however we got to MCO from canaveral at like 1030 and this includes waiting around and such... if you take your luggage with you off the ship and leave in the "early" line at 7, you'll get there in time

We just had an 11:10am departure from MCO last month and no issues at all, plenty of time. As stated, DCL recommends 11:30am or after so it's not that far off. I've had others near 11:30am and knock on wood, no issues and like another poster, I'm the worry wart. Barring any unforeseen circumstances you should be fine. We have main dining and eat in the MDR at 6:45am and are usually off the ship shortly after they announce you can disembark so by 7:30-7:45am we are walking through customs. We also use the DCL transfer busses and in our experience we have always been at MCO NLT 9am.

Most of the time you will have plenty of time. But I wouldn't do it. My flights are always at 12:05 leaving mco after a cruise there's a 10:35 flight that's going the same place and we always walk pass it going to our gate. I always think to myself damn we could of been on that flight. But I will never book it.
