Is 10am at Tusker house a bad idea?

I'm really conflicted here. We're going in Oct and have the regular DP. Party of 6 ages 4 to 83. I'm torn about our Tusker House breakfast time. Either 8:15am or 10:10am.

8:00am -
Pros - Before the park opens, which is the whole point.
Cons - Late night at MK the night before with Wishes
On the dining plan, we plan for 2 meals a day, and eating early will probably make us hungry at lunch time, which will then probably have us buying a meal.

10:10am -
Pros - Can sleep a little later and still make rope drop. Good for 4yo and 83yo
- A later breakfast will probably keep us satisfied until dinner
Cons - 10:00 am is still prime not as crowded park time and I'd hate to waste that at a restaurant.

So what do you think? I know that if we get there at rope drop, we could get FPs for EE and hit the safari right away, which is half the battle, so maybe 10 isn't too bad?

It's just that I hear over and over how AWESOME it is to get there for the before the park opens reservations.

HELP!

Deb

What time of year are you going? We are going in September when AK's hours are 9-5 and ADRs are hard to come by due to free dining. We went with an 8:05 ADR, not wanting to waste any time at AK because we don't have any other time planned here. I would think, however, that the 10am time slot would be less crowded. It is the tail end of breakfast, so I'd wonder how picked over/dried out the remaining food choices would be. I haven't eaten at a buffet there yet, so I don't know if they are re-stocking until the last minute or trying to "make it last" like some other buffets I've been to (not WDW).

I had that time once. We were seated late because of the time, at first we were not happy BUT:

Since the characters were soon to leave, they had us go up for a "breakfast" plate and then the characters came to see us one after another. (okay, guess that could be a bad with food getting cold. Then we were told to just sit and relax while they changed over to lunch and we were able to stay and have lunch also.

Now I wouldn't want to do this all the time, I am a big breakfast person, but we had been there before, but never for lunch. So it was a nice change.

So it may be a con that breakfast food does not get refurb, but the con is you get first choice at the lunch items.....

I've had a late breakfast time before and they didn't even start switching out the food until we were leaving.

I found we had great character interaction as the restaurant was quite empty.

I have both an early before the park opens breakfast time booked and a late one. I would like to catch the open ceremony on the late one, missed it last year with the before the park opens ADR.

I had your same delimma...here is what we did. Get to the park when they open go ride a ride (or even two!) because there are no lines, grab a fast pass for something and then head over for our 10:05 reservation :thumbsup2

One of our best character meals ever (in terms of character interaction) was a very late breakfast Chef Mickey. Because the restaurant was clearing out, the characters had time on their hands and kept coming by messing with us. It was FAR better than the traditional character meal.
