we never cruise without it because you just never know and for us the cost is worth the piece of mind.

We're due out on 9/8 for the Dream sailing from PC. I'm all for the possibility of whatever spontaneous reroute we might have to take or really whatever changes happen.

What I'm wondering is...I have the coverage days as a few days prior because we will be traveling down by car and doing legoland before hand, but my end date I chose as the 11th which technically was the end of the cruise. If for whatever reason Irma really puts a kink in plans and we don't come back to port til the 12th would the travel insurance reimburse for the incurred costs of travel for the extra day(s)-if the weather stays bad and we can't drive home and have to get a hotel in Orlando, parking fees, etc.

While I can't tell you what your policy says, typically, the insurance coverage is for a specific time-frame (for example: Sep 14-26) with the policy ending on the 26th. If you incur any additional expenses during the time frame specified (like an additional day's parking), they may be reimbursable. If it's the next day, probably not.

I'll have to check the documents-I honestly never thought of a day or two buffer on each end, I just assumed being honest as the exact dates of travel, to which a hurricane possibly extending the trip at sea, I didn't even know would be an option until reading on the forums here.

So thankful for this wealth of knowledge from everyone :)

Never thought of that either, good point. I will also be checking.

I looked at the policy of the insurance plan we usually purchase and it states that if your trip is delayed +6 hours before or after your trip you are covered. So, if you have coverage for delays it sounds like it is covered at either end. But we all know how picky insurance coverage can be so best to double check.

Call them. It's a good question.

My Visa card has travel insurance automatically covers up for three extra days as long as it is our transporter who's "late".
