I got my DD a nice one for the 4th generation iPod Touch she's getting for Christmas. I got it on ebay for $4.99 (free shipping or $1.99 standard shipping). I bought it and had it within 3 days.

I'm going to see how she likes it and if it's "shock aborbant" (if it gets dropped). If not, I'll get one at Target after the holidays.

We have an Otter box on our touch and my husbands iphone and they are wonderful! When my husband got his iphone the guy at the ATT store had his phone in one and threw it across the store to demonstrate how wonderful they were.

Another vote for an Otter box. Also iFrogz has a good one as well.

DD11 has a mophie juice pack which serves as a nice sturdy case/battery.
