I have an iPod Touch. When I listen to my iPod certain songs will suddenly stop and skip to the next song. I tried to restore the factory settings today to see if I could clear the problem up and it's still doing it. The only difference is it is on different songs. Does anyone know what is causing this and what can clear it up?? :confused3

Best thing I can advise is to book a consultation with someone at a Genius Bar in your local Apple retailer. They'll know what to do.

There's a setting called "shake to shuffle" when you move the ipod it will switch songs. Are you sure that isn't set? Sometimes it can be extremely sensitive to any movement.

Mine does not have this feature, so I know this isn't happening for me.

I looked up ipod touch, you never specified a model. I was just trying to help find the problem.

My iPod Nano will do that sometimes. I'll be in the middle of a song and suddenly it'll make this chiming noise and switch to a completely different song. I know that I'm not accidentally hitting a button because it'll happen when the hold switch is on.

That's "shake to shuffle." It can be INSANELY sensitive and can take almost no movement to trigger it. A friend and I were in LA last week and were using my nano in the rental car; it'd shuffle if I picked it up to skip to the next track and didn't set it down like it was made of spiderwebs. Ridiculous. I can see how that feature would come in handy on occasion but to me it was a major annoyance until I disabled it.

I went to the Apple store Saturday and they checked my iPod. The tech told me it was not a problem with my iPod. He restored my iPod and loaded music from their iTunes on my iPod. He said I shouldn't have the problem anymore and if I didn't I needed to reload my iTunes. I haven't had the problem since. Now I have to remove all my files from my iTunes so I can remove it and reload it. Ugghhh!! At least I know what the problem is now.
