Iphone Email Question

We just switched from a Blackberry to the Iphone. One thing we can't figure out is how to get notified when you get a new email. On our blackberry it would beep and the mail icon would have a red dot. On the Iphone we have had to select the mail icon and we may or may not have mail once the mailbox updates.

Am I missing somthing?

Go to settings>mail>fetch new data>push notifications. That should get you the little tone for new mail and show you how many you have.

Thanks. Definitely better but still doesn't seem to give immediate notices. The best I could get was a fifteen minute refresh

Yeah, that one of the knock against the iPhone. Blackberry and Palm notification system is much better than that of the iPhone. Rumors are circulating that there will be a major overhaul to the iPhone notification system with the next iOS or with the next iPhone update.
