iPhone...3 or 4G?

I've been with ATT for several years, but I was never able to afford the iPhone plan. They announced their new tiering plan two months after I renewed my contract with a different phone. So I've been waiting (impatiently) a year and a half to be able to buy an iPhone. Meanwhile, my daughter's renewal came up, and she got an iPhone 3. She loves it. And now, I really can't wait.

Well, the first day I can get an iPhone is coming up on Thursday. But I don't know if I should pay the $50 for a 3, or wait a few weeks and save up for a 4.

I've been doing research on both. Speed isn't an issue; I don't think a 3 would be that much slower than a 4. Memory could be an issue though. Right now, I use an iPod Nano with 2 gigs. I'm constantly shuffling music back and forth between my computer and iPod due to lack of space. My music won't fill up 8 gigs (the size of a 3 gig), but I'm afraid I wouldn't have too much room for other apps.

I've also looked into Face Time (good only with an iPhone 4). Is that compatible with anything else besides iPhone 4? No one else I know have the iPhone 4, although I suspect my DD will upgrade to a 4 (or a 5) when her renewal comes around in about 18 months.

Right now, I don't know if the extra memory is worth the $150. But I'm also wondering...with the iPhone 5 coming out, will the 4 go down in price anytime soon?

I want it now. But I've been waiting for a long time now. Should a wait a few more months?

the iphone 5 comes out in sept if you can wait. I would just to see what the features are on the 5 and the 4 would go down in price. I have a 3gs I love my phone and I cant wait till the 5 comes out.

I would either get the 4, or wait until the 5 goes out. There is a new operating system for apple that is coming out later this year, and i don't believe that it will be compatible with the 3GS.

I don't think I'm going for the 5. I don't really want to spend the $200 for a 4. But I can imagine how much a 5 will be.

Some Wal Marts have the 4 for $147. I was going to get the refurbished on AT&T for $99 but decided that the extra $48 was worth it for the warranty.

Once the new Iphone comes out, it will probably be $200 for the 16 gb and then the 4 will drop down and be $100. They will most likely stop selling the 3Gs.

Definitely the 4! I've had both, use the 4 now. Love it! The camera is awesome and worth the $200 alone in my opinion. And you get twice as much storage.

I would wait for the 5 if you can, if not get the 4. We just switched to AT&T from Verizon last month so I got the 4. Would have loved to wait for the 5, but oh well. The camera is much better on the 4.

I would either wait until the 5 comes out or go for the 4 and as other posters mentioned it's possible it may come down in price when the 5 comes out.

I have a 3G and want to upgrade to the 5 when it comes out. The new OS will only be compatible with the 3GS and up so I won't be able to use the new OS with my 3G and I am ready to upgrade anyway as my 3G has it's glitches and I do miss having video.

It may cost a little less to get the 3GS now, however you really need to keep in mind how upgradable it will be a year from now.
