If you have an iPad, try the iPad photo accessory pack ($30) and an inexpensive app called MaxNoteHD. One accessory enables direct input of photos into the iPad via the camera's USB cable or through a separate accessory into which you can insert your SD memory card. Any videos come up as an icon and (so far) I cannot access them on the iPad. Still working on it.
Downloading is rapid though, when downloading from the camera directly, you must make sure there is enough battery life left in it.
Once your pictures are installed on the iPad, they are accessible through MaxNoteHD. You can set up travel destinations or other categories on pages into which you can place your photos, text notes, or voice memos. The instructions are minimal but the interface is pretty easy to grasp.
When we are in Europe next month and on the WBTA Magic cruise, we will use this to collect, organize, and describe our photos. We already have Categories set up for the cities we visit as well as the cruise. When get home, we will have a text and voice accompaniment as needed for our photos.
