Great game!! I love it when the analysts and commentators don't give Iowa any respect! We just come back and make them eat their words! Like when they all said that Iowa could not shut down the vaunted Georgia Tech triple option offense - well, 32 total yards in the entire first half, and a total of 7 points from the offense was pretty good to me! And STILL, Jimmy Johnson says at the end of the game that it was only because Iowa had a month to prepare, and that if this was played a week after the season, the outcome would have been different. Yeah, right, Jimmy. Keep on saying that, and we'll just keep on winning. At least Eddie George, Big Ten guy that he is, picked us - and even thought that Iowa should have won against his alma mater, The Ohio State University.

Ricky Stanzi showed that there was no rust on him after not playing for 2 months, after an ankle sprain and surgery. He didn't miss a beat, even giving up an interception, just to keep the game exciting.

And poor Daniel Murray, the place kicker, running for his life after the fake field goal attempt! Our DD knows him and went to high school with him, and says that his mom can hardly watch him at the games - I'm sure she was terrified as that huge GT safety was bearing down on him!

Hats off to Adrian Clayborn! What a great game he had! Two sacks and nine tackles, and the game MVP!! And thanks to his decision to return to finish his senior year, we can good forward to more exciting plays from him next year!! Wooo hooo!!

Norm Parker, the defensive coordinator, is just a genius. His strategy held GT to a game total 155 yards and only 9 first downs. They just totally shut down that famous offense.

After a bitter 38 - 17 loss to USC in the Orange Bowl seven years ago, this time, the oranges sure are a lot sweeter. And cold weather? Just perfect for Iowa football, it turns out.

Go Hawkeyes! :cheer2:

Don't you just looooove commentators. Is it that the Big Ten always loses their bowl games because they have so much time off... or is it that they win because they have time to prepare? Bah. Both teams had the same amount of time to prepare for each other.

I totally agree. What is this obession with ripping on the Big Ten?

There were 7 teams from the Big Ten in bowl games this year, and they combined for 4 wins - Iowa, Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin. The Northwestern loss was a heartbreaker in overtime, and Minnesota lost by one point. Not bad, I say.

What a fun game! And what a great year to be a Hawkeye!

A great year to be a Hawkeye, indeed!! Amazing season - it was definitely a rollercoaster ride.

Definitely a great game. I was at work last night watching online, and I thought my office-mate was going to kill me with all my yelling and gasping and cheering.

Hope everyone recovered okay after any celebrating last night.. ;)

Yeah!!! So glad to see a thread about our Hawks!!! :cool1: :woohoo: :cool1: :woohoo: My brother was at the game and I talked to him, said it was incredible to be there!!

I was still tired from getting back from our trip to WDW, so I fell asleep about 8:30. :goodvibes However, I did tape it last night and watched the rest of the game. It's amazing how little time the game takes to watch when you are not sitting through hours of replays and commercials. :thumbsup2

And I ALSO felt bad for that kicker! Can you just imagine the conversation in the huddle? "You want me to do WHAT?!" :rotfl:

GO HAWKS!!!!

I'll bet it must have been a blast to be there! We would have loved to go, but Iowa City schools started on Monday, and DS cannot afford to miss classes, since first semester finals are next week.

Daniel Murray is not a big guy at all, and he looks like he is 12 years old. We were all scared for him, and were yelling, "Run, Daniel, RUN!!!":scared1:
