We just visited Universal Studios and IOA for the first time, as our kids, now 11 and 14, were old enough to enjoy the coasters. The Studios for the most part are wonderful for anyone, with a few thrill rides (simulators and indoor coasters) that are easily avoided without feeling deprived. Clean and creative.
The Lucy exhibit in particular is a worthwhile tribute, and Shrek is such fun!
IOA, on the other hand: Every ride has to have some kind of thrill. For me, that would be fear, nausea, extreme wetness (created by water, not my fear, LOL), or dizziness.
Now, I enjoyed IOA for its decor and theming, and because DH and DS1 and 2 loved the coasters and rides, but getting soaked on the raft ride - and I mean SOAKED!! - made me so uncomfortable in myclothes for the day! Then, 11 yo DS, after riding the Hulk and Dueling Dragons 3 times
, asked me to take him on the kiddie coaster. Sure, I said, no biggie, I can certainly do that ! Well, the centrifuge caused my brain to lag behind my head when we stopped, and I didn't recover until the next day
! A few people commented that it was certainly no mellow kiddie coaster!!!! So, if you are prone to motion sickness, you should obviously avoid everything at IOA that thrills - perhaps you like to get wet, in which case the 3 water rides are fine. Be warned that Cat in the Hat whirls you around (violently, as my 14 YO put it, and he rides all the coasters)
. Go with your family if they love it, or stay at your resort and get a massage....and if your entire party isn't seeking thrills galore, spend more time at the Studios.
