invtations

Well, etiquette states that your RSVP deadline can be whenever your caterer/location/etc needs a final head count.

Hmm...When are you sending the invites? The traditional time is 6-8 weeks, going for the longer time with destination weddings (with save the dates or something sent earlier than that, of course-don't want to surprise someone with a disney wedding close to the date!). So technically, depending on your exact date, etiquette would have you sending the invitations sometime in May...But it seems as though no one on this board waits that long to send. What is the exact date? If it's near the 4th that would have an impact as well.

if you have a lot of out of town guests that needs to fly in, take time off, etc. I would mail it no less than 8 weeks before the wedding... it gives them time to book transportation and hotels. i personally would want them booked 3months prior lol.

I would send them then as it reminds your guests that the wedding is approaching and to finalize their plans. Since Disney is usually a destination wedding we sent our invites early so that guests could get the ball rolling and finalize their plans. This would also give them the oppertunity to notify you in advance if they will be unable to attend.

My wedding is in July and my rvsp date past already! I sent them out in October with a Jan. rsvp. So now we know 6 months out who is going and can plan accordingly. With a destination wedding earlier is better so people cna plan ahead.

When and where is your wedding???? :sunny:

Here's my thoughts, summed up by a "professional"

What I have seen though was having a RSVP type thing with the save the date for destination weddings. Or even newsletters that include all the booking info and those are followed up by a phone call (depending upon guest list size). Around here, the actual invite doesn't get sent out before the 6-8 weeks.

We didn't follow the "traditional protocol" for the RSVPs.

We mailed on August 15th for a December 29th wedding
Our RSVP was October 29th.

Our thinking: It gave the stragglers a month to figure it out and get back to us. You will, inevitably, have people who keep delaying and delaying and delaying despite your phone calls and emails. It also gave us a month to play with the numbers and the BEO to cut costs if needed.

I am unsure why people are saying Disney needs their's so late. Yes, they need your headcount 48-72 hours ahead of time; but consider this: your final payment is due in full one month before the wedding. If you dont have your guest count and entree options (if it's seated), you're hard pressed to pay the correct amount. You don't even have a realistic final total bill until you have all your RSVPs back. We had no-shows, and I certainly am not expecitng Disney to refund those meals. We contracted xyz amount of meals, and that's what was prepared... not the xyz-3 that actually showed in Florida.

my mom and in laws are the only 2 people in florida so I am sending out travel packets by march and getting my first count in Sep then I will do my offical RSVP sent out Jan 2007 and rsvp by April 1 so I can work on the final budget.

Thank you. That's what I was getting at.
