On May 8th- 12th, the Invictus Games are being held at the Wide World of Sports Complex at WDW. The games were established by Prince Harry and are an international Paralympic-style multi-sport event in which wounded, injured or sick armed services personnel and their associated veterans take part in sports including Wheelchair basketball, Sitting volleyball and Indoor rowing. The opening and closing ceremonies will be televised on ESPN2, but I urge anyone in the Orlando area to look into attending these events. Tickets for the opening and closing ceremonies are pricey, but the events themselves are $18.00 each.

I didn't see anyone posting this earlier and I just saw it on the news..

Invictus Games Is in orlando and the opening ceremony is sunday! Tickets still on sale if anyone is interested and looks like a pretty impressive lineup for both the opening and closing ceremonies. Also tickets to see the events take place are available..

I've heard the Prince Harry could make an appearance too. Won't be out there, but I'm sure there will be plenty all over Twitter

Edit: In today's pre-parade

My friend is volunteering and already has seen Prince Harry. I wish I was down there because the sports event does seem pretty special. Based on my friend's photos they have brought out all the best for these soldiers. There is an entire swimming complex!

agreed. My daughter ran over to see the parade while I'm stuck at work. i'm looking forward to this and going to attend as much as I can.

I did post something earlier, but I don't see it. Yes, the Invictus Games are in full-swing at the sports complex. Prince Harry came by yesterday to talk to some of the athletes and performers. I have been participating in the preparations for the opening ceremonies. There will be music, pomp, emotional speeches and a bit of Disney magic. Tune in on Sunday (ESPN2) or if you can, come by to view some of the games. These athletes will take your breath away with their determination.

Likely at the Grand that's where they put most dignitaries.

Well I've officially stayed at the same resort as Prince Harry! Hopefully housekeeping doesn't start banging on his door at 8am every half hour on checkout day like they did to us last trip! :rotfl2:

CMs out here have been speculating he's out at the Four Seasons or further he had a tour of the resorts and MK earlier this week, the motorcades have been spotted travelling up and down the I4 daily with dignitaries.

Even the Helicopter Tours are having to close while the motorcades pass.

I've gotta say, some of the Inviticus people with their lanyards on have been getting rowdy in the bars around the monorail!! Seen CMs asking them to disperse!

It's unfortunate that so many volunteers and CM's opted to stalk Prince Harry while he was here. Rumor has it that those who did so were sent home/fired. For the first couple of days, you could see Harry here and there. It got to be so bad that he noticeably cut back on how much time he spent in open areas. Security was very tight while Mrs. Obama and the Bushes were here. I only had one unfortunate incident with family members from one country and I heard from 3 other volunteers that they also had trouble with friends and family from the same country. I'm guessing it was the same people.
