Intimate wedding guests question

We got engaged just before Christmas in the Magic Kingdom(so have just started looking at possibilities) and are looking at Disney's Intimate wedding package - especially after reading some of the postings in this forum.

We are more than happy to stay 4 days in somewhere like the Boardwalk or even the AKL. What we are not clear about are the rules for our guests.

We will probably have around a dozen or more guests, some would stay at a Disney resort, but otheres would be looking for cheaper accomadation outside Disney (possibly renting a house for the week).

Can anyone tell us whether they would be allowed to attend the wedding or do they need to be staying at a Disney resort as the weddings website seems to suggest? If they do have to stay at a disney resort, are value resorts an option and is there a minimum stay?

Thanks

From what I was told by my EM, guests will be allowed to choose from three different resorts at a discounted rate, one resort in each category (value, moderate, and deluxe). However, depending on your the size of the wedding, intimate or custom, there is a minimum night stay. We are having around 17 guests, so our minimum is 25 nights on property. Guests who are not staying on property do not count toward this minimum.

Hope this helps!

if you're an intimate wedding you do not need to worry about your guests staying on property. Also intimate guests do not get rooms at discounted prices. It will be beneficial for your guests to stay on property if they do not have a car, that way the limo that is included in the package can transport them to your ceremony.

What an exciting time for you though, congratulations on your upcoming wedding! You'll find the time going by so quickly!

i got married last month, your guests dont need to stay onsite. my parents and everyone else stayed in a house in kissimmee. theyre allowed in the wedding (its only custom weddings that are required to meet a room minimum). the taxi for 7 of them cost about $25.

I am sorry for the wrong info. I guess the EM that I spoke with must have given me misinformation. We also talked about a custom wedding, I could have gotten my wires crossed. :confused3

Sorry about that. :wave2:

Also, I just wanted to mention that as an Intimate bride you can select any Disney Resort - it doesn't have to be Deluxe or even Moderate. We booked our 4 night stay at Pop Century so that our family's wallet wasn't pinched any tighter than it needed to be. For our "honeymoon" we'll be upgrading for a few nights. We were spoiled on our engagement trip by staying at AKL.

what you saw might be old package since the new ones you can stay at any of the disney owned resorts for 4 nights. and the wedding can occur during any of those 4 nights.
as for guests it's totally up to them to arrange. Disney doesn't not get involved with your guests as they are your responsibility. however, you can try to reserve a room block(is that the right term?) for them at the same resort. They might call it a grand gathering too.
