I was just wondering if anyone choose a different cake then the one pictured in the wishbook. Or if your wedding planner gave you some options to choose.
I just wondered if it can be customised with hidden mickeys or that personal touch.

Anyone changed theirs? If so have you got pictures and prices??

Thanks

I asked about getting a customized cake in place of the intimate standard cake, this is what my planner told me via e-mail:

The BoardWalk Bakery said that they could do the square shaped layers for the standard intimate cake. It would be a $100 upgrade fee in order to do square layers.

If you wanted to upgrade your cake to Mickey's Delight (attached), the upgrade fee would be $100.00. (this is the mickey delight cake):

That is all I asked about, but obviously they can do most anything for a price! :goodvibes

Wow that is a bit expensive just to upgrade your cake.
I do like the mickeys on it. I Can't see to change it from square to round costs that much.

Thanks TinkBride for the information.

I was a little surprised at how much they wanted for the round to square as well. They don't have to do anything extra, just put it in a different shaped pan to bake it. Whatever.

I was really considering the mickey delight cake but i really thought about it. "Do i really want to spend an extra $100.00 just for a picture? They will just demolish it anyways?"

Needless to say we just stayed with the cake offered in the package. I guess I just didn't want my intimate wedding to be identical to all the other intimate weddings at Disney, i wanted some things to be different and my own. So, I decided to decorate SBP instead and spent my extra money on that.

I've spoken to my wedding coordinator about adding splashes of color (purple in my case). She seemed sort of confused. She asked if I meant I wanted all the icing to be purple. I said I just wanted highlights, dashes of color, something. So we're still in discussion. Maybe you can ask for color options?

I think what costs more is anything requiring fondant, and then there is an additional charge to change things just for the time required by your planner and baker to discuss it. (I know, come on, right?)

But it also kind of a judgment call by the planner and baker.

I wanted a cutom cake for my intimate, but all I wanted was gold fleur de lis (it's a DF thing--he's a HUGE Saints football fan--don't ask--I don't get it either) and I wanted to surprise him. The planner sent a request to the bakery and said it would need to be fondant. She CC'd me. I sent an email back to my planner, and said I didn't really want fondant (tastes funky to me, even though it does look beautiful) could it be done in buttercream? Bakery said absolutely, and no additional charge!

So I guess if you don't get too wild with the design requests you can get it for standard cost.

My wedding is in 6 days, I will post pics as soon as I can. :)

I also wanted to upgrade my intimate cake. I wanted it round with fondant and then fresh flowers on the top. The bakery said they could smooth the buttercream to look like fondant at no cost. All I have to pay for is the flowers, which I think was like 30 dollars. So it seems that if you want them to change the standard intimate a little bit its no cost, but once you want to make major changes they will charge you.

I love the intimate cake. We are doing a custom wedding and asked them if we could have the intimate cake only bigger. After looking at all the cakes Disney offers, it was our first choice. That being said, I hope you can get the cake of your dreams and that Disney will be accomodating.
