I need some help and advice. We have had AOL as our internet service for about 2 years now, that is all we ever had. We did not like AOL and finally cancelled them (we hope) when we couldn't get the service to work, even after doing all they told us.

So, now we are w/out internet service at home and need to get a new provider. We can't go w/ Verizon (our phone co.) due to our location. There is a local company w/ a good deal, but no broadband from them either. (We would prefer high-speed and not dial up) I also tried DTV, our satelite provider and there was a $300.00+ instalation fee!! I don't think so!!

Anyway, what internet providers would you all reccommed? I have looked at NetZero, seems like a good price, but looks like you have to pay for tech calls after the 1st month? We don't need something special, just the basics.

TIA!:sunny:

I use Comcast Hi-speed. I'd recommend it to anybody.

You might check the website and see if they're offering any specials. I got rebates for the entire cost of the modem AND $19.00 for 6 months. The only problems we have is you have to recycle the modem every so once in a while.

Yes, another vote for Comcast.

Yep-Comcast. Have had very good customer service also, even when I've called with really stupid questions...
That said, I'd concentrate on getting answers to your question from people who live around you as internet service (and the customer service that goes with it) seems to vary greatly by area.

Thanks guys! I have been asking around here as well.

I will check out Comcast today.

Any others?
