If I am correct, there are modem ports in the phones at all DVC resorts, AND local calls are free if you are a DVC member staying on points.

Does anyone have the local phone numbers for Yahoo dial up connections for BWV ???

I usually connect via my DSL service at home and rarely use dial up service. But this coming stay in March I want to bring my laptop to check in at work.

Thank You in advance and please feel free to correct me if my assumptions are wrong.

Local calls are .335 for members and .75 for others. There are dataports on all WDW resort phones. 1-800 numbers are free.

Your ISP should be able to supply numbers for Orlando, but make sure they are actually local numbers. You can check in the phone book for local prefixes or check with the WDW operator to make sure the number won't incur a long distance charge.

Enjoy!

I use netzero and it has many good local numbers(and many that are not local- even though they are in the area).

I have successfully used the following number as local calls from BWV to Prodigy/SBC Yahoo Dialup/whatever it's going to be called next week:

East Orange: 407-499-2404

Here's a link to get the list for yourself: http://sbcyahoo.prodigy.net/openPhone/index.html

And a few notes..

Make SURE whatever you use can do passwords to send mail. My H/PC can't. It'll be a checkbox labeled something like' My server requires me to log in' on the send email preferences dialogue. And Yahoo's webmail isn't very compatible with pda's, however, for your notebook you want http://mail.yahoo.com.

If your company supports it, Terminal server is easily accessible thru the dialup. But you do need to have the appropriate software on the notebook to use it. Talk to your IT guy about that.

You actually should be able to get 56k(which is usually rare on hotel lines) so it'll not be that slow. Although anything is slow compared to DSL.

My best rule of thumb is to test it at home first to make sure you'll be able to use it the way you want to there.

Thanks Mark !!! That phone number was on my list !! Unfortunately the list had more than a dozen numbers, and I had no idea which ones were truely local.

Thanks to DOC too, I didn't realize that they charge for local calls to DVC members.

One last question MARKRG....Do I still have to configure the dial up with '1-407' for that East Orange phone number ??
