I've been reading threads about people checking emails about FP+ on their phones and logging into their account to check their reservations and am wondering how they access the internet.

Roaming charges on my phone account are horrendous in the US so I was not planning on connecting to the internet except where I can do so for free.

Is there free WiFi in the parks? Or what are other people doing to read their email etc?

As above. Or if you are with Three network (as all 3 of our phones are) you can use your UK allowance in the US now.

Hi,
Don't get too excited about the free wifi in the parks I found the coverage patchy at best and very slow.

Have you tried this yet? I read about it, but it seems to fall in the category of 'things that are too good to be true'.

We were at Disney a couple of weeks ago and had no problems with wifi in the parks and all resorts?

I'm sure Wayne can answer this better than I can but I took a spare phone with a PAYG sim on 3. Paid £15 for an add on giving 300 minutes, 3000 texts and all you can eat data, lasts 30 days.

Worked well when away from wifi for internet, made one call home and daughter was able to link her phone to mine and use the internet on hers.

They had a similar programme a few years ago, which I used in Italy with no problems. I'm delighted they reintroduced it, as I was mad when they got rid of it. It would have been very useful when we were in NYC last summer.

We found it surprisingly faster than we expected in the parks. Its not perfect blanket coverage, there were odd spots but on the whole not bad.

Don't see why, its a service they have offered in other countries and now extended to the USA. Unfortunately Three had a poor start to their business life, poor customer service, coverage etc but IMO now the market leaders, their service & coverage is spot on and only £6.90 for all I need.
Last week my internet went down at work, I switched to Three's mobile via a hotspot on my phone, I got double the speed on the mobile compared to me business connection.
I will see how in works in the US next month but not expecting any problems, plenty of others returning without issue.

Just got home. The wi-fi was definitely slower this trip and we have been the last two years since it was introduced. I was in fact in Epcot the day they turned it on there! It was generally fine but the toll of many more users due to the MDE app has, I suppose, slowed it down. There are blind spots, most notably in the Magic Kingdom. Coverage at the Animal Kingdom Lodge was excellent, didn't find any blind spots here but have done at both Yacht/Beach Club and Port Orleans Riverside.

Like others have said. Just turn your data roaming off and switch to wi-fi only.

Sorry that was a typo and can't see how to edit from my phone. The most blind spots were in Animal not Magic Kingdom.

So were we and we did. You win some you lose some. Took me 45 minutes to download the Disney my way app. in EPCOT.

Mick.
