Ok so I know this has been gone over before but DD is going to be taking a Summer course and will need internet access in the MH while at Fw in June.
Can some one explain how the process works so I have some idea what to expect when we arrive.
I assume the hard wire connections are reliable enough for this.
DD is woried that thier may be a problem and it would cause her to fail this class so I am trying to calm her down.

Thanks

I've never had a problem with the hard wire connections at Disney.

What you do is go to the front desk at the Fort and check out an internet connection kit, (175 deposit on your credit card) then hook it up per instructions and then log on to your browser. $9.95 for 24 hours of access.

You must have charging on your room account.

Another alternative is to go to the little room over the checkin reception area and hookup and log in there. Same deal room charging on your room key, hook up to the ethernet port, and then 24 hours of access for $9.95

Thanks
How does the connection at the campsite work? I don't think she wants any conpany while doing her class.

You plug the modem kit that you check out from the front desk into the cable line at your campsite, then plug that into your computer.

So coax from the cable box to the modem, then plug the modem into the wall, then ethernet cable from the modem box into your computer, log on to the internet, then provide the number from your room key for billing, then you should be online for 24 hours.

If you want to watch TV also, I think you need to bring your own splitter.

I was wondering how it would work since my cable input goes directly to my antenna booster.

We just returned from The Fort. This was the first trip to try out our new VirginMobile Broadband2Go connection.

It worked just great for us. Access speeds were quite good and we had no trouble getting a signal at The Fort. Just plug the device (similar to a little flash drive) into a USB port and you are automatically connected.

Have a look at their site, there's no contract required and no monthly fee. Just buy the device for $100 and add minutes you can buy at WalMart and most other retailers.

It's WAY cheaper than Disney's $9.95 per day.

My DW and spend a lot of time on our computers and we could never share a machine, so I hooked the USB device to a Cradlepoint WiFi router so we could use 2 laptops. It worked well for us too.

While I drove the RV my DW was browsing the web, updating Facebook and working in Farm Town, pretty much all the way from the Canadian border to The Fort. There was only a stretch of about 40 miles in Northern Virginia where she could not get a connection.

I paid $60.00 for the 30 day, 5 gigabyte option. We used it heavily for 16 days, downloading files, uploading pictures to photobucket and our personal web site. We only used 1 gigabyte during the whole trip.

Check it out, I certainly recommend it!

That is way out of our price range we are only going to be at the fort 7 days. It would be nice to use the internet while on the road but $160 just for the trip is a lot of money.

If you are going to have a separate vehicle to drive, there are a ton of places off-property that offer free Wi-Fi access. I know it might be inconvenient, but if you can go off-property for an hour or two each day for free, it might be worth it.

I did use the cable modem the week I was there in November & just used their splitter for the CaTV & other side for the modem. I left my computer hooked up in the basement compartment and went online at the picnic table outside. It's a cable modem hook up & very fast. While it ticks me off that Disney doesn't offer free Wi-Fi (heck - even Motel 6 offers free Wi-Fi) our friends at the Wonderful World of Disney is going to milk every last penny they can out of their guests. And guess what? If we pay the charges, they will keep charging them.

That would be nice but the MH will be anchored to the site and Disney frowns on taking the golf cart down Vista Blvd:confused3
