Hi there!
How about gas (we will rent a car for the duration)? I hear that it is expensive? Any savings here?

Mike

Maybe it would help if I read your questions! Sorry!

For bieng a capitalist country, unfortunately gas is an area where competition is not utilized! The middle east has a pretty tight hold of us there. Gas stations vary only by a one or two cents a gallon from one to another in a regional area. Typically gas is around $2.00 a gallon and in some places higher than others. Depending on what size car you get it will probably cost you $25-$35 US to fill up your tank. Cars on average get 25 miles to the gallon and having a 14 gallon tank would get you about 350 miles. It is 90 miles from Tampa to Orlando to give you an idea. Driving for me here in Kansas City costs probably around $25 dollars a week.

Thank You for the advise(s)! I have printed them all and will use them in my planning.
The problem is that I need the vouchers (10 Q&C and 4 Premium Adult Dinner) and have looked at eBay and the DisAuctions but unfortynatly nobody sells outside Northamerica! And I cannot join the clubs to buy directly.
Anybody who can point me in right direction or give advise
Regards
Mike

Hi,i also had the same problem buying Q&C meal vouchers.i got ours off ebay.com but asked the seller if they would consider sending to the UK before i made a bid.i think you will find that most sellers will if you pay by paypal, and there was no differance in the shipping costs too.

Welcome! You will have a great time over here. The weather should be very pleasant for you (and the crowds manageable!)

Do you want to stay primarily in Florida? If there are other states you want to see, we can give you ideas about that. North and South Carolina are beautiful, but you might use up a day driving there. Georgia is nice from what I hear, but Atlanta is probably a five hour drive.

I live in Atlanta, and the drive is more around 7-8 from Orlando. Great city, definitely lots to do, but Savannah, GA would be much closer and worthy of a visit. Very old city with lots of beautiful squares in it's historic district. One of my favorite cities! It's only 4-5 hours from Orlando and you can visit St. Augustine, FL on the way up or down (another city with a lot of history and charm).

If you want to go further south, you might spend a few days in the Florida Keys. Very laid back atmosphere and amazing beaches. Nicer than Miami, but also further away.

You really have to plan carefully, Florida doesn't look that big, but it is!

Have a great time!

I agree with swilshire that the Siesta Key Beach is THE BEST! We visit the Gulf coast beaches alot which are considered good but nothing beats Siesta Key. If you are in that area you should definately go there; they have a public parking area and a food pavillion and bathrooms. Or you can take your own food. I also noticed that you said you will be going to Orlando your second week, well Disney's "value" season at their resorts starts on October 31st so you should be able to get some great rates there or even off property. Visit the resort forum here, I think they talk about all kinds of resorts (not just disney). If you are a family of 4 then you could get an All Star resort room for about $55 per night plus tax in value season. PLUS, you get free parking at the park or can use their shuttles. They also have a campground with cabins (we stay at the campground, Fort Wilderness, aka FW in our camper) so it is our favorite!

Again, thank You for Your help and kindness!!
I got ample with help and advise and saved tons of money on a rental car !!!
We are really looking forward to this vacation. And as for the election (somebody wrote and felt sorry for us being forced to look at all the ads ) we choose to go to DW during the election might be less crowded (me and my wife are at DW when Bill Clinton was elected and we did not have any problems with the crowds!!
Best Regards
Mike
