International drive advice. please help !!

Hi all,

I was wondering if you could help me? Does anyone know what time is rush hour in USA and therefore extra busy on I-Drive?

I have heard that it is grid locked during busy times, but I don't know when there are. Is it better or worse on weekends?

The reason is that I plan to take a taxi from Boardwalk to Pointe Orlando on I-Drive and I don't want to get stuck in traffic. (I am not confident enough to drive in USA yet)

I-Drive tends to be a mess most of the time, not just during rush hour.

In the US our morning rush runs 7-9am or so, and evening rrush is 4-6 pm or so. I-Drive is a madhouse all day and night on the weekends.

But actually where you are going, the best way is to get on I-4 and then get off onto I-Drive up by 528. During non-rush hours I-4 runs along pretty fast.

You might also want to look into the cost of a car service, it's probably going to end up cheaper than a cab, and the fee is set so if you get stuck in traffic there wo'nt be an additional fee.

The Traffic on I drive gets heavy just where the Pointe Orlando is on i-drive!!! whe we are staying in that area we use the back road that parrallels I-drive which is Universal BLvd.

I've found the traffic on International Drive to be very light during the week, but comes Friday evening until Sunday it is just plain bad. Certain blocks at major intersections are terrible, (International Drive and Sandlake Road) If your not in a hurry to get somewhere, it can be tolerable. Don't let the traffic scare you away from the area for hotels, the prices there are about 1/2 that of hotels closer to Disney, and it's only about a 10 min. drive
