Intermediate from Budget

I am just wondering what the current intermediate fleet includes. The website says Chrysler Cirrus, but I thought Budget was a Ford company. We will be renting a car in a few weeks and am just wondering what to expect.

I believe they also have Mazda mx 6s. Mazda is owned by Ford.

Budget is not a Ford company, Hertz used to be owned by Ford until recently.

I received a Chrysler Sebring as a midsize from Budget before. I know they also had a Pontiac G6 in that category.

Budget used to use Ford/Lincoln exclusively for a long long time.

Last two times we've rented with Budget we got a Ford Taurus as a full size. Not sure about the intermediates but just wanted to say that they do offer Ford products.

We've also had Taurus as a full size from Budget on two occasions. But, I don't know what they offer as intermediates.

Budget was one of the few companies that you could routinely get a Plymouth/Dodge/Chrysler product. (Ex hubby wouldn't drive anything else LOL) Those are the main lines they carry although you can get different car companies represented there.

I understand that...but I am a car nut, so I was just curious. Most car rental agencies except for Enterprise align themselves, or in some cases are owned by one of the Big Three auto companies.

Funny as the last trip we took in June, we rented through Avis. Reserved a full size and all they had was a Ford Taurus or a Hyundai Sonata. We took the Sonata.

I think those days are long gone. It seems they all have quite a "stable" of different makes and models. Alamo and National used to be pretty much GM, now they do Chrysler, Mitsubishi, Toyota and GM, to name a few.
It is sort of neat to have watched this progression over the years.
I find it funny that none use Honda, that I know of.

Probably resale value stays way too high. I think most car rental companies sell their cars around 30,000 miles. At least I haven't driven anything in all our trips to Florida with 30,000 miles on it. Most Hondas tend to go for a long time and resell quite high. Probably not worth it for them to spend the extra bucks on Honda if they're going to sell at 30,000 miles.

Honda doesn't allow program cars. It greatly dimishes resale value and it is one of the reasons why a Honda Odyssey minivan will retain 60% or its original value after 5 years. Open your classifieds and see what a 3 year old Honda goes for compared to a 3 year old Ford or GM.

Just reserved a car through Budget for our trip in less than 2 weeks - they are offering GREAT rates right now (IMO).

My confirmation is for an intermediate size and it states it will be a Chrysler Sebring sedan or similar. Every time we've rented from Budget we end up with a Chevy Impala because we specifically ask for it. We've found the trunk space bigger than the Ford Taurus.

We always go with whatever size offers the best price and then bring our coupons from our Entertainment book (for a free double upgrade) and we've always asked for and gotten the Chevy Impala, no matter what size car we reserved and we've never had to pay extra for it.
