Interesting political observation about the DIS--vote to prove me right or wrong

On which side do you fall generally and in this election?

  • Democratic -- support Kerry for President

  • Republican -- support Bush for President

  • Democratic -- support Bush for President

  • Republican -- support Kerry for President

  • Moderate -- support Kerry for President

  • Moderate -- support Bush for President

Results are only viewable after voting.
It would seem that a majority of DISers, for various reasons, are either Democrats or independents/moderates that support Democratic candidates.

i think the opposite is true. there was actually a long period of time that i left the db because i couldn't take the daily conservative bullpoop that was all over it. there were days during that pariod where i felt like the only liberal on the dis! i think there are way many more conservatives here than liberals.

as for the other stuff, there are rude posters on both sides, and both sides have posters that specialize in bait. otoh, both sides also have intelligent rational posters. the latter are what keep me around. :)

ITA. I'm amazed when I see other Democrats on the boards and ones in Texas no less ;) . I'm a registered Republican but will not and have not voted for the party candidate since Regan.

Voted, but will keep it a secret for fear that I will be verbally attacked and called an idiot. ;)

I think liberal Republican describes me best. Bush looks to me to be a moderate-type Republican, and I've heard (or read) him described as all kinds of things...that tells me more about where the posters themselves stand. I would guess that there's a even split nowadays between liberalism and conservatism, which there's never been before on the boards and which should make for better debates, though we're not necessarily seeing them. But that's just a guess. I've been absent for a while, I ignore things, I managed to ignore the whole DNC business down the street...as a fence-sitter this election just isn't that important to me this time around. I'm voting for Bush but I could live with Kerry.

I'm a Republican and support Bush, but I'm not one to voice my opinion in any political debates, since those always turn ugly.

I'm a Republican, but I'm leaning towards Kerry in this election. I make it a point to vote on the candidate, not the party. Bush does alot of things that I like, he's very solid. When he says something, he sticks to it. Makes me feel secure in a world that's becoming more dangerous.

But Kerry has some things up his sleeve that I like too. This is the most difficult election year I've ever voted in.

I agree. The poll seems to also based on the current percentages.

Why? to make even more division?

Yes, we did do it on the DB. Well, the words "Democrat" and "Republican" in essence should not be considered dirty words.

Of course it is the internet, it is too much to ask people to be civil to each other when debating politics. Thats okay I can throw stones with the best of em...........;) :sunny:

minnie, Im not a stone thrower at all. Im just curious why we should have to be labeled and thus subjecting ourselves to the stone throwing one either side?

Some of us would rather support our choices in other ways I guess.
To each their own :)

Republican here, and I will vote to reelect Pres. Bush!

Wow! I was surprised to see that the Republicans are ahead in the poll here. I thought for sure the Democrats would be the highest percentage!

Binny, thats a really good point!:D

You have every right not to want to be labeled, or put into any category. It should be striclt voluntary! :D

Hmmm...interesting poll results so far. It's funny how so many people on both sides of the aisle feel that it seems there are more people from the opposing party. The observation that those posts which disagree with your own personal viewpoint stand out more probably is right on target.

Thank you to the vast majority of you who kept this nice and civil. Let's drop all discussion of baiters vs. responders so it can stay civil.

I formed my opinion that there were more Republicans/conservatives on the CB when the war in Iraq began and we had the "war board" for awhile. I know myself, caitycaity and maybe, just maybe two or three others took the opposing view, the others supported the war. So out of about 30 people that posted on that board on any regular basis, only about 5 of us took a more moderate or liberal Democratic stance. That's why I felt that way. :) And boy did we get our butts kicked on there!

But ... we were right. ;)

The DIS is one of the only places I feel outnumbered as a Democrat. This is a pretty conservative crowd, so unlike my neighborhood and workplace, as well as my extended family gatherings where everyone is a Democrat and everyone wants Bush out. If it weren't for the DIS, I'd probably only very rarely hear an opposing point of view from anyone but my husband, who is the only Republican that I associate with on a "real life" basis. :)

Judging from the poll results, it looks like there are more Republicans here. I agree with Robin though, the last election it was even more one sided.
