I was reading through the new Mousesavers newsletter and they had a link to "deep discounts" at select WDW resorts. So I clicked the link and was surprised to see the following discount:

Old Key West, Studio, $169 plus tax (Fri-Sat nights)
Old Key West, Studio, $209 plus tax (Sun-Thur nights) - some nights $244

The interesting part is how these cash reservations run totally opposite the way the points are structured for DVC members. Look how cheap the weekend stay is compared to weekends.

Not surprising at all, at least to me.

Less availability on weekdays = higher price/night
More availability on weekends = lower price/night

It's our own fault. We created the monster.

So, even at the new adjusted pricing, why would anyone stay for points on a weekend when they could get the room for a lot less paying cash?

My points are already paid for whether I use them or not. I can't eat them for supper. ;)

Try this one! I see that there is a 35% off for select nights in April and May at WDW. If you want to book April 27th and 28th, it is $68 per night, if you add April 26th, it is $83 per night for all the nights! Why would it raise the other 2 nights $15 per night??

I just figured it out! The 2 nights were in a standard room, and the 3 nights were in a preferred!
