Was watching Mr. Food at noon time and rather than carving pumpkins, he was carving watermelons!!

They actually looked pretty neat - and there's so many different ways you can use the watermelon that you scoop out..

Just thought I'd share in case anyone wants to try something a little different this year..:)

Wonder how long they would take to go bad, and if you could but a candle inside of em :)

I don't know, but if you place it outside and it's cold in your area, I would think they would last for awhile..

He did have candles in his - they looked really neat - but of course you wouldn't want to leave them outside unattended with a lit candle (which I'm sure you know).. :)

Back when I was still living in my old home and my late DH was alive and healthy, we always made good use out of the pumpkin "inners".. I would make pies, some seeds were roasted and salted for snacks, and the rest my DH would use to plant pumpkins for the following year.. However, if other people aren't going to do that with their pumpkins and just toss the "inners" in the garbage instead, the watermelon idea is a good one because there are so many things that you can do with the watermelon that you scoop out..:thumbsup2

I saw a really cool "brain" out of a round watermellon

They peeled it just to the white rind. Then carved out the lines of a brain- (so you saw some red.

I'm not describing it great but I hope you get the idea.
