Interest Thread: DL and DCA Swap (? for WDW people too) GROUPS POSTED

On March 3rd, we are scheduled to have signups for the Disneyland and DCA swap. I wanted to get an idea of how many people are eagerly awaiting signups. I know at least 2 of our DL fans have been away from the boards lately, and other people are cutting back or might have enough on their plate already with other swaps. So before, I set up groups, I have a couple of questions.

1. Primarily interested in DL groups, DCA groups, both?
1a. How many total groups, do you think you would choose to be in?

2. Elements, complete pages or both?
2a. Elements: 1, 2, Topper +1, Mini page kit (topper, photo mat, element), what sounds most interesting to you?

3. Dining: Elements, complete pages or both?
3a. Dining: Separated into DL, DCA, and hotels, or if they are all together in one group is that okay?

4. If interest is low, I am thinking about separating the groups so their are groups for attractions only at DL, and groups where the attractions are also at WDW, so that maybe some of our East coast friends could participate, especially if they missed out on the rapid closing of the MK swap Would any WDW people participate, if that were the case?

Any other comments about what you would like to see?

Based on responses, I will put together a list of groups and such, and post it in this thread sometime next week. And I might have additional questions later.

Group Lists. Elements will be listed first, followed by Pages. When I do signups there will be one thread for Elements, one thread for Pages. Under elements, the groups will go Disneyland Specific, DL "Also At WDW", DCA, DCA - "Also at WDW" for any WDW people looking for groups they might want.

Elements
I've decided on 2 elements, so you can choose to a Topper or not. Exception...in pulling out the WDW stuff, it meant I needed things to fill out groups, so for elements, there won't be separate "Land" Groups (is Adventureland, Fantasyland, Frontierland, etc in one group), a land spot will be in groups mixed with attractions from that area. For the land spot, please make one element a Topper/Signage. Also, for group A, please make one element a Topper/Signage. You can look at the element list in the Flocking Swap to get an idea on requirements. Groups will be 6 people, except Group V. Kiddos, that will be 4 kids.

Pages

We'll be using the same guidelines as other hostesses that have hosted pages. Groups will be 4 people. There will be Land Page Groups. Most Page groups will be choose your own, although I have broken them up into Thrill, General, Children, so hopefully people won't end up with what they don't need because they don't have little ones or don't do thrills, etc.

I don't know if we will fill this all out, but we have a few very eager beavers, so we will see where we end up.

Yes very much interested!!! So is KKbeaton, Lawanna. That i know of for certain. I have been waiting for this one. Since we have been to DL 3 times in the last 2 years.

I will be in this. I missed the MK swap. I have only been to DL once but still need things for that and WDW.

I'm interested in DL and DCA groups. I would probably be in every group you had, unless it concerned the preschool show (my kids are too old for that)

I prefer elements, I prefer being able to choose what elements I would like to do for the page from a list of items (like in the character swap)

Again, I prefer elements, I would be fine with separate groups or all in one... it doesn't matter to me.

I mostly go to DL/DCA (we have annual passes), but I have been to WDW a couple of times, and still have pics to scrap. We are also planning more trips to WDW, so either would be fine with me.

I'm so excited for this one, because most of the time the swaps are mainly for WDW, so it's nice to see one geared for our beloved DL/DCA!

Hope, you know Im in and all over it! The other thing I forgot to mention is that Banana would like to also join. Kiddo group or let her join a group and I oversee her, which I do anyways.
I would probably do 3 to 4 groups myself, depending on what it is.
I forgot who mentioned this about the resturants but DL has some cute counter service areas so dont think just TS (like Golden Horseshoe is more of a CS than TS to me and so is Village Haus).

Yay! to everyone eager to participate.

Are there others with kiddos that would like to join in? If there is, we can start with a kiddo group. I'd like to know in advance, because if there aren't enough kids to fill a group, I want the kids who want to do stuff, to have a wider selection of topics to choose from.

And I'm all over including CS restaurants too. I have quite a few pictures of Hungry Bear and Red Rockett's.

I would probably join 1 or 2 groups. I personally prefer pages, but I could do some cool elements also. I don't really care how you split up the dining. I have been to DL so many times in the last few years that I desperately need to get caught up...especially on my favorite ride...STORYBOOK RIDE!!!!

I will be at WDW when the list goes up...can anyone help me out?!

Both groups. I am currently averaging 9 groups per swap, so let's just say I would be interested in a lot!

2a. Elements: 1, 2, Topper +1, Mini page kit (topper, photo mat, element), what sounds most interesting to you?
I only swap in elements - I prefer either 2 elements or Topper + 1. Mini page kits are too much work for large swaps - which this one will likely be for me. And 1 element is just too little to get anything useful from the swap.

3a. Dining: Separated into DL, DCA, and hotels, or if they are all together in one group is that okay?
I was there 3 days, but we never ate in DL or DCA. We kept leaving to eat. So don't know if I would join anything here.

I like the idea of separating groups by DL / DCA attractions because I joined the MK swap this last time with the idea of getting things that could be used in a DL book. I am almost covered on the duplicate rides, now I just need the DL/DCA only things.

What "little things" do you guys take photos of? I take photos of everything, and anything I don't have a photo of, but there could be a swap item for would provide the incentive to go back and take more photos. Are you the same way?

Examples of little things: Esmerelda, Shrunken Ned, Fortune Red, Tiki Garden, Wishing Well, etc.

Just wanted to answer this question for you so it doesn't go unanswered - although I am probably the wrong person to answer it in this case.

I didn't take pictures of any little things at DL/DCA. A friend and I had three days to do both parks - plus we were staying with another friend in LA, and commuting to the parks. So we were rush, rush, rush to ride everything. I did get pics of most of the signs of the rides, and even some of the rides themselves. But I didn't photography the parks like I do at WDW - but then again, I have been to WDW well over 100 times. But that was my first time at DL/DCA - and I'm not sure when I will be back because the friend I went with is no longer stationed in San Diego (now Hawaii), and my friend in LA now lives in D.C. - both of which I can't wait to visit them there. But it will make it more difficult to get back to the west coast again.

But if you make groups of the little things, I can probably find pics online of them and still include it in my books to have more pages.

Just wanted to say that I take funky pics of all kinds of things, like window dressings and merchantainment stuff and if something just happens to catch my eye, like the alligator in NOS, so you could do anything with me!

2. I like elements...I'm not into whole pages yet I don't have the time
2a. I'm likeing the topper plus element more and more I don't use alot of the other elements alot.

3. I'd only use elements for dining unless it's character dining.
3a. I would definately seperate it all...I don't stay at any of the disney hotels when i go (too expensive)But I do dine at the hotels.

4. Either way...when I do the WDW swaps I always pick stuff that's at both places, since I go to DL/DCA more.

I take pictures of all sorts of things. Each time we go, if there is something that I see that I haven't seen before, then I take pictures of it. Last trip I took pictures of the light poles on Main Street, because they were decorated up for the What Will You Celebrate gig.

I would also prefer elements for this one also, I think that it would be ok if they were all together in one group or separated.

I go to DL/DCA and have never been to WDW but that does not mean I will not go some day.

Groups are posted in post #2. Let me know if there are any comments, suggestions, other things you would prefer. By pulling out the attractions at WDW, I had to be a little creative to fill out some of the groups so you might have a "why did she put that thing in this group?" moment. This has the potential to be a ginormous swap, so I will likely end up pushing out the due date, which will give everyone the ability to sign up for more groups.
