Intensity of Everest vs. Rock n' Roller Coaster

As a ride wuss who used to only ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad out of all the Disney coasters, but has now conquered Space Mountain and Expedition Everest, I wonder how much more extreme Rock n' Roller Coaster is, and I wonder if I can handle it and if I should do it the next time I go to Disney.

But I am wondering how Everest compares? I've seen some people compare it to BTMRR but others say that it's closer to RnR in intensity level. I have to say that I personally found it a lot more intense than BTMRR! BTMRR really doesn't make me scream at all, Space Mountain made me scream a little (mostly because the movements are so jerky and sudden in the dark, even though the ride itself is not too intense), and I was screaming big time on EE. The backwards part, the 80-foot drop, and the really tight turns at the end are definitely not like BTMRR. I did really love EE and I came off of it smiling, so it's not like I was terrified on it, but again, it did get my heart pumping, and to me, it's quite a bit more extreme than the mountains. I do feel like it may be my "limit" when it comes to coasters.

I thought I might get brave enough to try RnR, but sadly I did chicken out. My dad rode it and claimed that it wasn't any worse than EE. He also didn't think the launch at the beginning was a big deal, even though I've seen a lot of people say it's really intense. Then again, he rides and enjoys some pretty extreme coasters outside of Disney. I'm almost more afraid of the inversions than the launch though. I have never been on any roller coaster that inverts, so I have a fear of going upside down since I don't know what it feels like. I just wonder how much more intense RnR is than EE, and if the inversions are any more intense than say, the backwards bit on EE. I have actually read posts from several people saying that the backwards part on EE feels like you're going upside down, which was what really made me scared to try it in the first place. I didn't feel like I was inverted on that part, or at least, it didn't feel like what I would imagine an inversion to feel like, since again, I haven't actually experienced it. Do inversions actually feel similar to that?

EE is much more intense than BTMRR! I can ride BTMRR and Space Mtn with no problem, but EE scared me to pieces! I was hoarse from screaming for a couple days after. Never again! I wont try RNRR as it goes upsiide down. I was going to ride it last trip, but after riding EE, I changed my mind. I would not enjoy the inversion anyway. If you did fine on EE, I would think you could handle RNRR. I have heard it is very smooth.

Quite honestly, the only person who will know if you will like Rock N Roller Coaster is you. And the only way to find that out is to ride it.

If you have done Expedition Everest, a logical step to try something different is Rock N Roller Coaster. Yes, the launch looks scary and I still scream after riding it about a dozen times but that's the launch. I don't have a problem with the rest of the ride and my husband didn't even know we were inverted until after his second ride and I told him.

But those are our experiences. We aren't you. I would give it a try. You can go through the entire queue and if you are still a bit worried, ask the seater to leave before you board the limo. Very simple to do.

I think EE is much more intense! I love RNRC..it's smooth, and over in seconds. I usually ride a couple of times in a row if the lines aren't long. On the other hand, once was enough for me on EE.

I think EE is the more intense coaster, personally. I can handle all the Disney coasters with no issue, but EE is the only one that gives me a mild dizzy feeling while riding it. Even though RnRC goes upside down and has the part at the beginning, I think it's easier on your body.

Now if you're talking about more intense as in scarier, that depends on what is scary in a coaster to you. RnRC has the speed at the beginning, but the rest of the ride isn't all that scary IMO. It's dark, but not to disorient you like EE and SM. Instead, it's dark so the decor can stand out at the appropriate times.

Totally agree with this statement! :faint:

It depends. EE and RnRC are each intense in different ways. The worst part about RnRC is sitting there waiting to be launched, IMO. But the launch and the ride itself are both very smooth. Very fast, but very smooth.

I won't ride Space Mountain personally, and I LOVE roller coasters. That last seat on SM was a little too jarring for me.

I generally don't like big coasters. That being said, I rode EE twice in a row on our May trip. I found it incredibly smooth! The main big drop was not too intense. But I felt sick to my stomach after the 2nd time from the backwards part. I am prone to motion sickness from spinny rides.

RRC was a different story. I had never done an inversion either. I didn't mind the take-off, but I found it very jerky and uncomfortable overall. The actual inversion was not bad because it was so fast. What helped me was holding very tightly to the over-the-shoulder restraint. I had my eyes shut most of the time and I think I screamed a lot. It was too intense for me. I did not get back on. Now, my 8 yr old DD was a different story. She rode again with her dad.

I think EE is more intense than RnRC.

Both are very smooth rides (especially when compared with the likes of BTMRR or SM), but that drop on Everest just about does me in.

RnRC is the smoothest roller coaster at Disney...and it's a very quick ride (75 seconds, I think) and the music being piped into the car is awesome! I am also a fan of the over-the-head type restraint. It gives me the feeling of being more cozy/safe in the car and I like holding onto the handles on the restraint throughout the ride.

Long story short...if you can do EE, I think you'll be able to handle RnRC without a problem.

I rode both EE and RRC back to back on my recent trip last week, I had no trouble after the 2nd ride of RRC, but was definitely shaken after the 2nd EE ride. While RRC is more "intense" as far as thrills and G's, EE is shakier, louder, and a lot of stop and go. Plus you have to deal with heights on EE while RRC is in the dark, either way, I think you can ride both at least once :)

Both are satisfying to us thrill junkies. Not at all for the faint of heart. Thankfully, 7DMT sounds like its for those who are faint of heart. If you can do EE, you can do RR. Just keep your head back. The anticipation is half the fun, but the ride is over pretty quick.

Nothing in Orlando that I have ridden in recent memory can come close to SeaWorlds Manta though. That is levels above both of those.

You can handle RnR. I am a self professed coaster and general ride chicken. It took a great deal of gumpshun to try EE, RnR and TofTerror. I did it and they are all my favorite rides at WDW now. We do them several times while there. RnR is intense but no more so that EE. The selling point to me was the fact that it is indoors and in the dark. You get the sensations of loops and inversions as well as speed BUT RnR is really not that fast. I think that it catapults you at a blazing 48 MPH or something like that. Be aware that the first loop is immediately out of the gate. After that the rest of the ride seems to just cruise along.

The thing I don't like about RnR is the way it bangs your head around through the loops, especially in the back. I usually ride single rider and almost always end up in the back. I have no problem with EE, I rode it twice in about 10 min on my last trip, contemplated a third.

I've always thought of EE as a tame coaster. RNR is definitely more intense at the beginning. After the initial kickstart RNR is not that scary. Kinda like a Space Mountain that doesn't jerk your body around as much.

RnR is great fun and you can totally do it. EE is more intense in most ways. RnR is in the dark so you do not see the track coming ahead of you. That makes it so much easier in a lot of ways. The first part where you launch fast is great and not frightening. You just remember to keep your head back and relax instead of fighting and it is over quickly.

If you can do space mountain you can do RnR. I love space mountain too. I can't do big coasters anymore because I developed some horrible motion sickness. Anything that drops me too far is totally off my list. RnR being in the dark makes it so much easier to tolerate, just like space mountain. I can keep my eyes open to orient myself, but don't see the up and down ahead of me. lol. It helps keep my stomach in place. Dramamine helps too! You really don't even realize you are upside down when it happens. Just as you start to get really into RnR, it is over, and you have to go do it again!

Me too! I will only ride RNRC once because it gives me a headache. I know when we are going upside down, the side of my head is hitting the overhead restraint. I have always had this problem, since Cedar Point got a Corkscrew when I was a kid. Straight loop inversions don't do this to me. EE I can ride multiple times also.

The RNR coaster launch threw me way off guard! That plus the first inversion together were so intense. But then the rest of the ride was fine. I got off RNR feeling kind of disoriented! I'm doubtful I would go on it again, but I loved EE!

Personally I find RnR a lot smoother than EE. Aside from the initial launch I don't think it's particularly intense and it is also quite a short ride. I agree with the PP about being jostled around in the back. I used to always run for the back seat of a coaster. Now that I'm older I sometimes feel it in my lower back :guilty:

I'd try RnR. I hate drops and there are none here of note. I won't ride space anymore because it is rough and makes my back hurt. Tip on the head thing - had that too - push your head against the back of the seat and it minimizes the problem. My first thing is to try to look around and that is a bad idea you can see all the theming and keep your head back. On the inversions I took my BF last trip who is a big coaster chicken and at the end I asked how were the inversions and she answered - we were upside down? She got so into the music and ride she never noticed.
