This is an excellent point. It's proof that just because someone is nominated or appointed by a President you might not like, doesn't mean that that person is going to be a puppet. The judge was obviously appointed based on his merits, not his political beliefs. I noticed in the article that the judge actually believed in intelligent design personally, but still thought it was unconstitutional to be taught in a public school science class.

I agree (and am probably not of the same political beliefs as you are). I tend to think that if a judge is smart, honest and hardworking, he or she will make the "right" decision most of the time, no matter the political party.
