Insurance if Cruise rebooked

I have my late May cruise insurance with Allianz.

I reached out to them on Twitter to ask if the Cruise was cancelled and rebooked later (so no insurance claim) if the insurance can be moved with the claim.

Answer was Yes, if rebooked cruise was within 770 days.

So those moving cruises be sure to check if insurance can move with it.

Oh wow! This is great to know. I have Allianz, too, and didn't even think that this was possible. I will call them and see if this applies to my cruise once I know more. Thank you for sharing this info.

There are only certain links that aren't permitted. You don't know until you try. And, if it turns out it's not permitted, you should remove the work around, as they don't want people doing that to get around blocked links.

Don't assume it's 770 days - that varies by insurance company. I had booked my Hurricane Irma cruise in May 2016, 16 months before it was supposed to sail. We ended up switching to a July 2018 Med cruise after the Irma issues. My insurance policy no longer worked because it was more than 24 months after the purchase date. They let me cancel the old policy and buy the new one, but then I lost the "pre-existing conditions" clause because the original payment for the cruise was May 2016, even though that was for the original cruise and the $$ was transferred to the new cruise. I'm really beginning to question the value of trip insurance, quite honestly!

We had Allianz insurance booked for a cruise we had to cancel. We were able to transfer our policy to a land trip instead.
