I don't even know if any holiday insurance covers you in case of such a disaster, but it's worth checking if you are planning a visit to Florida during hurricane season. We were insured with Alliance & Leicester and were not entitled to any help at all, we had booked our holiday privatley so did not even have the tour operator to help, the insurers advise was to contact the villa's owners (in the UK), management company and the British consol. We were not entitled to any help moving to a hotel in a unaffected area (if you could find a room). I have previously posted how usless the management company were and what could the owners do in the UK (they have only owned the property a few months having bought it from friends - who we had originally booked with) and the British Consol, just made me angry telling me they don't give out money - I never asked for any I had thousands of dollars of TC that I couldn't spend because alot of the places were shut due to damage or power failure - so check your policies before you go or before you buy them I certainly will in future-even if I have to pay more!!!
