Instant Lottery Tickets- Do you call them "Scratch-offs" or "Scratchers" (or other)?

I always called them scratch-offs but found other places call them scratchers

Scratch-offs. Never buy them anymore because I never win. My aunt has the devil's own luck though and always seems to have a stack of winners ready to cash out at WaWa.

We’ve always called them “instants” but maybe that’s just my family that does that .

I looked it up, and the California Lottery has registered several "scratchers" trademarks relating to instant-win lottery tickets, although some seem to be just about images of the logo. Many were abandoned though, but they may have just been older logos. I don't believe they have any trademark on the word alone unless it's relating to a trademarked logo. They're mostly "California Lottery Scratchers".

I've never heard that. They're usually called "scratch tickets", at least in my area of MA.

Have always called then 'instant lottery tickets' in any of the states where I have ever lived. Had no idea what a 'scratcher' was the first time I saw some TV show refer to them that way. Perhaps that term is more common in some parts of the country then others.
