I noticed on twojo21's save the date letter that she was providing guest accomodations at no charge. This is an idea that I have tossed around if we decide on an intimate instead of a custom (when the time actually comes). But I have some questions for brides who have done this or are planning on doing this.

1. Did you provide accomodations only for the wedding night or for more days?

2. Did you provide varying lengths of accomodations based on the guests projected length of stay, or on their "importance" to your special day (mom and dad/best friend as opposed to aunts/uncles/cousins)?

3. Did you stay at the same hotel as your guests, or at a different hotel than your guests?

4. (If you were at a different hotel) Were all the guests at the same hotel, or did you have some (like mom/dad and MoH) stay at the same hotel as you?

5. If, for example, you provided accomodations at a value hotel, did any of your guests express their desire to "upgrade" to a different hotel, or were they all just excited with the free accomodations?

Thanks for any information you might provide.

right now we are lookinh at a wedding with 50 + peiople so providing accomadation for everyone is not happening. We are however providing 3 nights at a value for anyone involved in the wedding that being: 4 bridsmaids and their dates , 3 groomsmen and their dates, 3 rooms for aunts and uncles and 2 nights for a close family friend who is doing free calligraphy for us.

We are staying for 5 nights with our parents, my brother and dh2b's sister and brother in law at a deluxe(maybe moderate??).

But our rational is it is very important they are all there, it is expensive to be in the bridal party (flight, dress, tux, gift parties etc) and disney is nonnegotiable for us so this is something we are budgeting for!

I am not sure how this is going to turn out yet but I can't imagine anyone having any complaints if you are paying for their accomadation! What I do know is this is going to cost us a whole lot of $$$$$$$$$$$$ :confused3

hello, yes we are providing accomodations for our guests

3 nights for family & friends at disneys allstar movies.
4 nights for wedding party ie moh, bm, readers at disneys allstar movies.
all our guests have raved about the provided accomodations at disney. some are extending their time for a longer vacation at the allstar movies.

7 night for my parents mym package at disneys wilderness lodge, as a thanks for helping with the wedding costs.
10 nights for us at disneys yacht club concierge.

theres 62 of us total.

We ended up only providing accomodations for my MOH and her husband. My parents offered to put the rest of the bridal party up using their DVC points, but our bridal party declined the offer. Had they accepted, the plan was to give them a room for the night of the dress rehearsal and the wedding. The rest of our guests were on their own, it just wasn't feasible in our budget.

We will also be providing accomodations for both our families and our officiant and his wife. It remains to be seen how many friends I can include in this?! We are doing this by using our DVC points. Likely, we will use all of our 2007 and 2008 points to take about 25 people to either BCV or BWV I hope. We may dip into 2009, if necessary :goodvibes Can't wait for our vow renewal!

We did not provide accommodations for all our guests—we had 78 guests, so that wasn’t financially possible for us.

We did provide rooms for our bridesmaids and groomsmen the night before the wedding. We actually both had “sleepovers”—the girls stayed with me in two connecting rooms at the GF and the guys stayed with DH in two connecting rooms at CBR. It really worked out very well and was a lot of fun. My Matron of Honor actually came down a couple of days early with me, so I paid for her room for those nights too (she stayed with me). We also surprised my parents by upgrading the second half of their trip to be at the WL instead of CBR. My dad was thrilled since he had always wanted to stay at the WL.

I would have loved to provide accommodations for everyone, but it just would’ve been too costly for us.

I agree with Elisabeth...I would love to provide accomadation for everyone but it is not financially possible w/out going into a ton of debt. So I say do what you can. It is your wedding and those that can and want to be there will (providing you give them good notice- we are letting everyone know now and our nwedding is not until June 2007 :rotfl: )!
