This is inspired by something that came up in the "midlife crisis" thread. Are you a "stuff" person? By that, I mean do you like to buy "stuff," have "stuff" in your home, store stuff, etc.? I am definitely not a stuff person. I like to be rid of stuff because I can't stand clutter.

I don't like shopping, and I don't buy a lot of stuff that we don't need. I do buy necessities/consumables of course, but even that shopping is mostly done on Ebay. We've lived here for almost a year and I've yet to set foot inside the mall :earseek: The only non-necessities that I even care to buy are candles from Yankee Candle (after XMas sale) and high-end clothing (usually gently-used) from Ebay. I find that I like having "stuff" around less and less as time goes on, too. I'm not sentimental at ALL, so storing "stuff" is out of the question. If can't consume it and otherwise don't need it, it goes. So, what about you? Do you like "stuff"?

Oh, I am so "non-stuff" it isn't funny. I have no figurines, collectibles, or knick knacks ANYWHERE in my house. On my end tables there is either a lamp or NOTHING.

I had to absolutely force myself to put some framed pictures on my fireplace mantle. I also have to force myself to hang pictures but when I do, I will buy big, bold pieces of art.

I hate "decorative" clutter. A co-worker of mine doesn't have one blank space of wall in his home. If there is picture and a space on the wall, it gets nailed up. It just looks too "busy" to me.

Lessee....house, pool, Vette, boat, 4X4, guns, lotsa tools, dogs (and 1 scared cat), some Armanis, some Hummels...yup, I pretty much believe he who dies with the most toys wins. :teeth:

Nope--I really hate shopping and I've moved so many times in my life that my first thought is always, "Would I want to pack it?" If the answer is no, then we don't get it.

The only thing we have a lot of is books. Between DH, DD, and I we have boxes and boxes of them. We're turning our living room into a library with bookshelves all around. And we don't even buy every book we read--we make a trip to the library once a week and get a bunch of books there, too!

I am very much a stuff person. I think a lot of it is because I grew up so poor and had NOTHING. But, as I get a little older, I feel that the stuff is choking the life out of me LOL. I have slowly started getting rid of stuff like clothing. Heck, just for me, I have a chest of drawers, a dresser, and three closets full of clothes.. oh and my hope chest is full of clothes also. Now, let's not mention that I have BOXES and BOXES of clothes in the shed. I could clothe several families with what I have. But, I have come to the point in my life where I just don't need them to make me feel.. I don't know, not poor??

LOTS of stuff here. But I would like to declutter and get rid of a lot of it. Am considering having an ebay sell a thon! LOL. Truly, I have been a collector of lots of stuff for years and years and would like to stop.

Maybe I can do it..... ;)

I hate stuff but have too much. I am always decluttering it. If I had my choice I would be rid of 50% of it.

I've always had too much stuff. I am sentimental so I have a hard time parting with things that are near and dear to my heart.
I am in the process of decluttering. It is a very freeing feeling, actually. There are some special things that I love that I won't part with but a lot of stuff is making an exit.
I don't like to shop. Yet, I still have too much stuff. Go figure.

I am definately not a stuff person. I hate shopping and collectibles and having alot of stuff around. My Dh on the other hand loves to buy things like DVD's, books, videos of old shows etc. It gets expensive and the junk just lies around everywhere!

I hate clutter but I have a lot of stuff. Obviously, this causes me some stress!! ;)

I like knick-knacks and pictures - I do not have enough places for all the picture frames that I have. I do have wall space covered - empty wall space is a blank canvas for me - I have to fill it up. But I would love to have some empty counter space!

Right now I think the biggest cause of the clutter is my kids - lots of toys big and small hanging around. And DS's collection of rocks and sticks and leaves! LOL!!

Somedays I just want to chuck it all!!!!!!! (Just not today!)

I am in the process of transforming from a stuff person to a non-stuff person!

I don't buy stuff just to have stuff, but I will spend money on things that I truly want.

Are you kidding! I LOVE stuff! I grew up very poor and I'm sure that has something to do with it. I now have everything I could possibly want and then some. I have LV purses, Prada shoes a BMW AND a CLS500 Mercedes. I don't take any of it for granted though.

Muffy

Not really. I'm one of the hardest people to shop for, because I literally don't want or need anything most of the time. :)

I used to be a stuff person, but as I get older, I becoming a non-stuff person. Now the stuff I have is starting to annoy me!!!!!! I am seriously thinking about doing a massive decluttering, getting rid of all the knickknacks etc. that are driving me crazy!!!!

Not as bad with clothes. I go through my closets every Fall & Spring, and am pretty ruthless when it comes to thinning stuff out. I donate though...I'd never throw away anything if I thought someone else could use it. That actually goes for household items as well. We have a women's shelter & a men's rescue mission in our area, so anything they can use goes to them.

I am sooo not a stuff person but somehow I now have all this stuff?????

So, I asked DH since we live in a small house and don't plan on moving if I could get a small storage place. Why you ask don't I just get rid of it..well..it's mostly Disney stuff.

My youngest had some of the most unusual Disney "stuff" so we have bags and bags of old beanies and stuffed animals from the movies.

Could you get rid of the musical bank from Tarzan or the entire collection of Alice in Wonderland beanies? I think not!

I am always trying to declutter......my dd11 seems to just spread the stuff wherever she is................. :confused3

:rotfl2: :rotfl: lovstink--you made me laugh..........I too could not get rid of those disney beanies or the bigger plush that dd11 has........ :confused3
