All these threads about Britney Spears and her baby and her life, etc. have been floating around the CB lately, but I was wondering what everyone thinks of Christina Aguilera and the publicity surrounding her new album and image??

I've never liked Britney Spears, but Christina Aguilera has always stuck with me. She's got a voice, she works herself to the ground writing and assisting in her new albums, and oh yeah, she can sing! Her new album comes out in August and her new single is already out (I just downloaded it from iTunes actually). I, for one, am looking incredibly forward to it!

A new interview with Christina about her album and her life. She seems SO much more grounded than Britney.

My man likes me dirrty..

CHRISTINA AGUILERA has revealed her husband Jordan just loves her being a real Dirrty Girrl.

While most men might want their wives to cover up, it seems music boss Jordan can't get enough of the singer's provocative style.

Christina, whose new single Ain't No Other Man is out next month - has become notorious for her barely-there outfits and her saucy songs, the epitome being Dirrty on 2002 album Stripped.

But she insists: "My husband is always there for me. He was there for me with Dirrty and we are going on four and a half years now.

"He is proud and supportive of how I look. It's an expression and an element of what I do. I don't think it's about being secure, it's comfortable and I am comfortable in my own skin.

"I flirt with the camera and my audience and that's one element of my persona.

"I do change my characters and look, but I take the red lipstick off before I go to bed. The heart of me is always there.

"Jordan is very balanced and strong and he inspires me. He's able to deal with the craziness in my life and not be intimidated.

"He's my rock and my backbone and my best friend, so it's great."

Christina began dating music executive Jordan Bratman in late 2002 and married on November 19, 2005, in Napa Valley, California.

Although tiny in stature, Christina is a diva with a huge voice and an even bigger attitude -perhaps to make up for the abuse she and her mother suffered at the hands of her father whenshe was a child.

Five minutes before she arrives for the interview, her publicist brings a vanilla candle by L'Occitane to the table.

When she arrives she's chatty and friendly and - for her - demurely dressed in skinny jeans, leopard pumps and a white knitted top that goes all the way to her neck.

But her brash image is still apparent - she has a huge diamond wedding ring, other silver and gold rings and is wearing loads of make-up - part of her look for her new double album Back To Basics, which is out in August.

Her comeback single Ain't No Other Man is a mash-up of old jazz, funk, trip hop and modern beats with her fast delivery.

Following her alter ego Xtina from Sripped, Christina again adopts a character, Miss Baby Jane, in her new video.

And although the song includes the lyrics "ain't no other man on the planet/does what you do/you're the kind of guy/ a girl finds in a blue moon" this isn't her going all mushy. She said: "Music is therapy for me in a way. When I was very little and had an abusive childhood it was my escape.

"I also take time between albums because I want to disappear long enough to live life so I come back with a new take on what I've been going through.

"I don't like to just pump out albums to sell records. I like to figure out what I have to say and what I want to do each time.

"Some amazing things have happened to me in the last few years. I am a newlywed but I was never one of those little girls who dreamed of getting married.

"Of course, lyrically, my husband inspired me in many ways, but I didn't want to write a bunch of fluff about love.

"I wanted to make a feel-good record with positive elements. He's a part of it though - how could he not be?"

While in 2003 a shoot for Maxim magazine saw her cavorting in the sea, topless and showing her bottom, this year she's gone for a more mature Marilyn Monroe look in GQ -although it is arguably just as revealing.

She explained: "It's important to express myself and I think sexuality will always have a role in each record, but I will choose how it fits.

"The Maxim cover shocked everyone.

"I like to try new things. The female body is beautiful and, as long as it comes across as empowered, it's fine.

"I like to play around with that and I've been a fan of artists who change visually, such as Madonna. I think it's exciting and I love to play dress-up as well."

Now she's married, the singer is having to field questions about if she'll start a family.

But she seems determined not to follow the same path as her former New Mickey Mouse Club co-star Britney Spears - who critics accuse of losing her pop star looks now she is pregnant with her second child and battling rumours of a failing marriage.

Christina insists: "I will take care of myself because I want to have a career after I have a child. I like to look good in pictures.

"I don't like to rush things and a family can wait. It's important to be married a while before a third party comes in the picture."

But just what does she do with her racy live-show and video outfits?

Christina said: "They are locked away in storage. I will have quite a collection when I'm done. I also keep memory boxes of all my stuff for each album. It's entertaining to look back at things - even though I would never wear those outfits now.

"Thank God I was bold enough to do it. If I'm going to do that I might as well do it when I am young enough to pull it off.

"I have no complaints and I was glad I was able to do everything.

"I look at the pictures and listen to the music the label made me make on my first album... but it's been fun."

Her eponymous debut album was released in 1999 and produced her first No. 1, Genie In A Bottle.

She's had three other British No.1 singles -Lady Marmalade from Moulin Rouge, Dirrty and Beautiful - while her second album Stripped sold two million copies in the UK.

Already she is planning to tour Europe this autumn with third album Back To Basics, which has seen her reunite with her with former producer Linda Perry.

Christina call this her concept album, which takes the jazz and blues of Billie Holiday, Otis Redding, Etta James and Ella Fitzgerald and adds modern beats.

She said: "For this album I chose to dive right into the 1920s, 30s, and 40s, a time that really inspires me. I'm very inspired by old blues, soul, and jazz music, which I think are the root of all music."

Christina is also adopting the trademark visual style of those eras - with coiffed blonde hair and red lipstick.

She said: "Right now, because it goes with the music, I like the red lipstick and being blonde.

"It's like method acting. I would get into character, recorded these songs wearing red lipstick and surrounded with photos of Dinah Washington and Pearl Bailey and Billie Holiday.

"I idolise Etta James and we recently j did a magazine story together. She said some very complimentary things to me -I could have died and gone to heaven.

"She gave me a gold bracelet and I keep it in my vocal booth for good luck.

"Etta said I have an old soul like Billie Holiday or Janis Joplin and that was amazing coming from my favourite singer."

Ain't No Other Man is out on July 31. Back To Basics is out August 14.

I think and have always thought that she has the *most* amazing voice. That girl can SING.

eta: I also think she is beautiful. I haven't always agreed with her outfits per se, but she is a beautiful woman.

don't know much about her or her singing, but i don't have much respect for people who believe their celebrity exempts them from local laws and common courtesy.

she left a "nasty taste" in the mouths of lots of napa locals when she got married up here. there have been major restrictions put on private weddings at wineries and such because of the traffic and noise problems it causes for locals and neighbors. christiana apparantly did'nt find that the laws conformed to her "wedding dreams" so she went ahead and did what she wanted which resulted in disturbing alot of residents. her take on it was that whatever fines she had to pay as a result were "worth it" (yeah, tell that to the neighbor's who had to contend with the noise and the traffic disturbing their holiday time). even the owner of the place she held it at claims he was taken aback at her disregard for both the law and his personal wishes for the use of his home (and while she's no longer around-he still gets alot of flack from the locals who suspect he was in on it the whole time).

very tacky.

I like her.

But - I never had a problem with The Pre-Kevin-Britney. It's Post Kevin whom bothers me a tad and seems like a dirty girl.

I've always preferred Christina to Britney for a number of reasons:

- Christina is a SINGER, whereas Britney is more of a DANCER (so I prefer Christina's music, and she is a much much better vocalist - one of the best around today in the pop industry)

- Christina never tried to play innocent (although I imagine that more than anything Britney was ill-advised to go that route - either way, Christina's transition from teeny bopper to adult was much smoother and more successful than it was for Britney)

- Christina really does sing her heart out in every song (ie, she won't keep it simple just for the audience!)

Never been a fan of her sense of style though!

That girl can sing for sure but I don't like her.

I couldn't stand that 'Dirty' song and video. Gross. I don't like the way she dresses. I don't like her strange hairdos/colors (although she does look nice in the OP photo).

I also don't like her fueds with other young women; just silly.

But going by voice, yes, I like her voice.

I think she has a nice voice. I could really care less about what she wears.

I'll listen to her song if it comes on the radio, but I've never liked them enough to buy her cd. Maybe I'll like the new one!

I don't care for Christina either but at least she doesn't make such poor choices in front of the media like Brittney does...either that or they just don't care as much.

I hated the strange hairdos and colors, etc. of the Stripped album as well. But I LOVE the new look she's got going on. It's Old Hollywood Glam, very much like Jean Harlow, Marilyn Monroe, and other stars of an age gone by.

I love Christina, I just like Britney

I think she has a good voice, but often she tries too hard to prove it by over-singing the riffs. It takes me out of a song when it is overdone.

I like Christina quite a bit. I actually loved her Stripped album, while I only liked the previous one. She has a great voice, and a sense of pride in herself. She seems *real* to me.

Never liked Britney, she seemed like an airhead and a phony. Not a good voice either IMO

I have always liked Christina Aguilera. She does pull out some really strange looks though.

I liked Christina, then I didn't, but now I see her becoming more mature and grounded. She seems to have more class than Britney these days and seems to be more grounded and secure with who she is. She doesn't seem to make as many poor choices and actually married someone who supports her and completes her -- not competes with her. K-Fed, as we all know, is in this for the "fame & fortune".

Christina also never is never seen looking like a shabby mess, chewing her gum and crying to Matt Lauer. :sad2:
