I took my 15 year old son the the Dr. 7 months ago for 2 lumps that he found. One was on the side of his neck - the other was kind of on his shoulder going towards his back. The Dr. wasn't concerned and told us to keep an eye on them to see if they have gotten bigger.

Well...2 days ago he found another one between his chin and his adams apple. I took him to the Dr. yesterday and the Doc is inclined to think they are from acne. Now...he doesn't have a bad case of acne by any means. He has typical flare ups now and then -but it's not out of control.

The dr. says your lymph nodes fight off different things and skin infections are included. He put him on an antibiotic (mylocycline??) that he has to be on for over a month! He also gave him a topical ointment. He has to have a CBC work up also - but the doc reassured me that it would probably come back fine - that if this were serious he'd definetely have other symptoms as well.

Have any of you experienced this or have your teens experienced this? My son is EXTREMELY healthy - as a matter of fact, my husband and I were just discussing how we can't remember the last time he was sick (probably when he was in kindergarten!). He has no other symptoms - just these lumps - they don't hurt him at all.

Now that I just read the antibiotics and lymphoma link - I'm nervous about these long term antibiotics that he has to take.

Anyone else ever dealt with this sort of thing or even heard of it?
