My 3 kids attend CCD (catholics). Thier Nana teaches one of the classes, so I do not give her the token gift I would normally give a CCD teacher. My question is this: Do you give your kids religous education teachers a gift, and if you do is it smaller than the school teachers?

and does this gift giving trickle down to all your kids teachers (music lessons) coaches (sport teams) and extra curricular leaders (brownies/boyscouts/destination imagination)?

Well I teach REP (what they call CCD at our parish) and out of 8 kids, maybe three gave me a present last year. Personally, I don't think it's necessary and actually, we don't give gifts to the kids REP teachers unless they want to. That's my policy for all the 'extra' teachers.

Yes, I do give my kids CCD teachers gifts. I also give their dance teacher gifts too. Just some small token is nice.

I've taught CCD for 10 years now and have gotten some pretty neat gifts over the years.

Now that being said, I will add this.........In my next teacher letter to the parents though, I'm asking for the students to not give me a gift. While I love the thought, it has gotten a little crazy over the years and the last thing I want parents to do is to add more stress to their schedule by running around getting me a gift.

A homemade card thanking the CCD teacher for their work is great.

Sorry this is long and I hope not too confusing!

Yes I give to DS's CCD teacher. He has 2, a mother of a kid in the class and her mother. Since they do it at their house and they always provide snacks, and a small token gift at the holidays, I feel its only right to give them something back. Last year I got them each a Yankee candle and this year Im going with a BlockBuster gift card with a bucket of popcorn for each.

I give one to DS's "homeroom" teacher and also did for his CCD teachers when he had them. Never gave a thought to the size for any specific teacher. Got what I felt was appropriate and something they would like.

yes, same size. I feel that my kids' religious education is very important and I want to thank them for being willing to be part of it. For other "extra" teachers, they get a gift that is a smaller version of the other gifts.

I try to give a gift to anyone that gives their time to my children: teachers, RE teachers, Scout leaders, etc. I also try to acknowledge people behind the scenes like the playground supervisors, school librarians, etc. Sometimes it's just a little something...but it can really brighten someone's day!
