(inspired by Snoopy) What's your favorite SCARY movie?

The Exorcist
Nightmare on Elm St (the first one w/Johnny Depp)
Night of the Living Dead

The Birds really freaked me out when I was little.

Rosemary's Baby.
Halloween was scary at the time.
Duel (Steven Spielberg's first movie about an evil truck driver)

But I agree with Mal - Willy Wonka is the most disturbing movie I've ever seen! I tell people this all the time and they think I am whacked.

I like the Alfred Hitchock classics like Psycho and The Birds.

The Exorcist and the Birds.

I tend to shriek in the theatre at any scary movie. One time (during a Kevin Bacon scary movie that I can't remember the name of), I yelled so loudly the entire theatre laughed at me.

Stir of Echoes I bet, where Bacon gets hypnotized then starts seeing a ghost girl. That was a great movie.

I love horror movies, they are my favorite! Here's a few of my favorites:

The Shining - Jack Nicholson is awesome
Halloween (1-2)
Friday the 13th (1-4)
The Eye
Ju-on: The Grudge
Poltergeist
Nightmare on Elm Street (#1 only)

Silence of the Lambs and Jaws are 2 of my all time favorite movies but I really don't think of them as horror. The Exorcist is a good movie but I don't think it is scary.

I have seen all of the movies mentioned. The Changeling is really creepy, I hear they are doing a remake. I am really excited about The Grudge that is being released Oct 22. The Japanese original is the scariest movie I have ever seen!

My scariest movie is "Candyman". Of all the scary movies I"ve seen, it still gives me the heebeejeebees. lol

I love scary movies. This definitely is my time of the year.

My favorites are:

The Birds
Halloween I & II
The Fog
Invasion of the Body Snatchers ( the original)

My sister watched the Body Snatchers with me when she was little and it scared her so bad that she slept with me until I left for college. When I came home, she still was afraid to sleep alone so we slept together until I married.:(

Not sure if this counts, but one of my favorite movies is Silence of the Lambs....weird, I know, but Hannibal Lector just fascinated me for some reason!

I am so glad to hear I'm not the only one freaked out by Willy Wonka. My family thinks I'm nuts. My DH and Mom LOVE this movie. I was always creeped out by the oompa loompas and the part in the tunnel. I think we need a support group.

As far as "real" scary movies

Scream- 1st one
Misery
The Shining
Silence of the Lambs ( saw it in college with some friends and had to walk home after in the dark. We were scared to death)
Halloween- 1 and 2
The Others
Alien

Scary movies don't bother me as an adult. There have been some classics like Halloween and Nightmare on Elm Street, but they're more entertaining than scary as an adult. However, as a kid, the original House on Haunted Hill was terribly frightening, but nowhere near as bad as The Wizard of Oz. The flying monkeys populated my dreams for weeks after I first saw that movie. :scared1:

Thank you! Yes, that was it. I hollered at the moment she suddenly appeared to him on the couch.

I mean hollered. And threw my popcorn. The whole theatre broke up laughing.

Halloween 1, 2, 4, 5

Nightmare on Elm St. all but 5 is my fav

Sleep Away Camp

The Entity was good too

Exorcist

Darkness Falls

The Ring

I could go on and on :teeth:

Gory movies really turn me off, but a good old scary ghost story gets me every time! So, I'd have to say that "The Others" really gave me the shivers.

Also, not a movie, but the series that used to be on the Family Channel- The Scariest Places On Earth, I think it was called? Where they had families go to haunted castles, etc, and stay the night? Ooooh, I used to be seriously spooked after watching those!:earseek:

I LOVE scary movies!

Some favorites:
Aliens
The Ring
Blair Witch Project
The Haunting (original version)
Lost Voyage
Jeepers Creepers (surprised me!)
Halloween

There's so many other good ones but I'll keep it short. :p

Halloween, IT, When A Stranger Calls and The Shining.
