Wow! I was amazed to see on another thread that snoopy has THREE identical twin brothers... HATS OFF TO HER MOM!! :teeth:

I have lots of twins in my family, none of my own, though, but was checked for them with every pregnancy because of my family's history.

For the record, all seven of my aunts have twins, two of the cousins who are twins have twins, my Mom had twins who did not survive, my Grandmother had two sets of twins and my sister also had twins who did not survive (tubal). I wanted them but never had them! :( Most are fraternal, boy girl twins, which is amazing because some of them don't even look like siblings!

Post away twins families! I know there are LOTS of them on the DIS.

DH's grandmother has a twin sister. That's the only twins that I know of in our family. Her and her sister are too funny when they are together, too!!

My grandmother was a twin. DH has twin sisters.

My grandfather has THREE sets of twin siblings. All are fraternal, and 2 sets were successive pregnancies for his mom. They are boy/girl, boy/girl, girl/girl. I wouldn't mind having a set myself, as long as it occurs the first time around :)

I have 2 sisters that have identical twin girls.

My husbands mother and stepfather are twins.

One of my sisters that had identical twins, there father is a faternal twin.

Those are the twins in my family. I did not have them, but who knows if we try for another whether I would have them!

Yup, 3 sets, all boys. :)

My one brother who is a twin also had twins (girls!) and my grandmother was a twin.

Im a twin....

My brothers wife just had twins. They now have 3 kids under the age of 3!! :scared1:

Ive only got 1 kid.

Both of my grandmothers were twins, but nobody else on either side of the family has had twins.

Several twins on both sides of the family, and my sister had twins.

I have a set of identical twin girls. We have no twins in our family at all. My aunt had just done a geneology of our family that went back 4 or 5 generations. Nothing. Nothing on my fathers side either. DH family let me know right away that nothing like this has ever happened in the family at all.

I guess I just mutated (Dr's words) the first 48 to 72 hrs after conception.

DH is a twin....he is a man who actually HAS an evil twin.

My grandmother had 5 sets of identical twins, and one "single" child.

My mom had twins between my brother and me. They were born early and in 1959, there wasn't the medical care, etc. available that there is now. They didn't live--one lived for a few hours, another for 10 days.

Both of my brothers have identical twin boys. The older twins are 13, the younger ones just turned 3. And here's the fun part: the older boys are Sean & Joseph, the younger ones are Simon & Jude. My older brother has blonde hair, my younger brother is a red head. So Sean & Joe have red hair and Simon & Jude are blondes!

My husband's family has a couple of sets. One of them is his sister's (our niece and nephew). Both identical and fraternal on his side of the family. When I was pregnant with DS, they thought it might be twins because I was so huge, but he was just a VERY big baby at 10# 7 Oz and 23 inches. BTW, big babies run in DH's family too! His dad weighed 15 # at birth!

I have a twin brother (I am a girl). I have always had issues about it. I hate sharing a birthday or being referred to as the twins! Please, we are individual people, not one unit. I also hate matching, cutesy outfits. Luckily my mom never did that.
Another pet peeve is getting asked constantly if we are identical (especially by those who know he is a boy). Last time I checked, boys and girls have different plumbing :p .

My maternal grandmother was a twin (fraternal, 2 girls). My dad's cousin also has fraternal twins (boy, girl). We don't really know our genealogy past that, so there could be more.

I don't really want to have twins, but if I do, I would rather have them on the first pregnancy and have them be fraternal.

My aunts are the only twins in my family.

I have an aunt (by marriage) who was a twin. She also had two sets of twin sisters; her mother was a twin who had two sets of twin sisters and her grandmother was a twin who had a set of twin sisters and a set of twin brothers. My aunt and uncle had one set of twins girls and a son, and their son had a set of twins, but neither of the twin daughters had any twins.

When my MIL had DH and his twin, the doctor told her they were identical because there was only one placenta. Now these boys have NEVER looked alike. As adults they don't even look like brothers, much less identical twins, but MIL still insists that they are identical. It's so funny!
