What's your opinion/thoughts on slums?

I'd never really realized what a travesty slums were until I watched this movie and researched slums. Contrary to what I've read, seeing people live like this only makes me what to go there and help rather than avoid it.
Personally, I can't even fathom how people live like this.
We really are blessed living in America and The UK.

It would be an awful way to live. Developed countries really have no idea how lucky they are.

I just cant believe people live like that, and most people dont even know about it or seem to care. Im really blessed living how I am right now...
Did you know that the two youngest kids (im not sure which ones) from the movie are actually from the slums? I didn't know that! But they're going to be adopted soon... im so glad. The poor families like that that live there :sad2:

I knew they live from the slums. The movie studio moved their families into permanant houses. :)

Jeez, I can't even imagine!

We all take things for granted.. I'm so greatful for where I live.

i've lived in a ghetto before. the landlord was pretty kind for most of our time there, being lenient if we missed a payment or needed an enxtension from what i remember, but it was the other tennents that gave us problems. drug dealers, hustlers, *****s and their pimps, and illegals all made up the grand majority of the population there. i lived next to a meth lab for quite a while before we were able to move out. there were fights in the parking lot all the time. at one point, when i was little, a woman was stabbed in the stomach (eye?) in the middle of the street and left there.

now, i was never directly exposed to anything bad. my mother made sure of that. but, i know i was one of the lucky ones there. my family fought tooth and nail to get out of that enviornment, and now i live on the "right" side of town in a big white house and i'm going to graduate and go to college and move to an even bigger and better (poverty wise) town.

you never know how bad it gets.
