Saved Cali from starving to death. :D

One year there was a drought and our creek was drying up, so in order to save the fishies, i pumped water out of the spare cistern for them to have enough to live...:)

Found Maribelle a home (she's doing great, by the way! I got to see her again last weekend) and pulled a 2-3 week old kitten off the street.

We picked a baby raccoon up off the road once.... the mother was dead there.... we took it to a woman with a special license to raise wild animals..... last fall we saved a squirrel who had fallen into our pool.... put him in a spare rabbit cage and warm until he dried off then put the cage in the back yard opened... in about an hour he took off running!

My oldest DD helped a Robin (I think) bird. A few Christmases ago, the bird flew into our picture window (the Christmas tree was in front of the window).

Well, the bird landed on DH's car and Stephanie ran out, in the freezing cold, and put the bird in our cat's cage. She took it into the house, put blankets in the cage, bread and water. After about 1 hour the bird was doing well. We named her "Holly" and let her go.

Then Stephanie went back to opening her Christmas presents.

everytime we see a red breasted bird in the neighborhood my girls yell, "There's Holly".

I rescued a baby bird once, I've found homes for lots of animals. and one day I took a small terrier away from a pit bull.

Not smart, I know. Luckily it just looked at me like I was crazy.

Yep, that's why we have 6 cats.

We're constantly stopping traffic on our road when the snapping turtles are crossing. People drive like idiots on our road and I've seen too many squished turtles.

Years ago before we were married, DH and I were at a 7-11 and saw this cute little puppy peeking around the corner of the building.

I went over to her and picked her up. She was so grateful to being held, and licked me all over the face and wagged her tail until I thought it was going to fall off.

We waited a while to see if anyone inside the store was the owner, but nobody ever came out for her.

I think she was abandoned. We took her home, tried to find someone to give her to (we already had two dogs and two cats) but we ended up keeping her!

"Brandy" was one of the sweetest dogs!

Lots of times, too many to count...rabbits, raccoons, ducks, turtles, cats, dogs, birds....
The three cats I have now were a stray mother & kittens I rescued. She ended up costing me a small fortune for surgery due to intestinal parasites, but I just could not let her die. That was six years ago and the three are very happy, healthy pets now :)

There's always been animals in my house. One day the sweetest cat showed up in the yard and sat on the deck watching my kids play in the pool. The kids immediately fell in love with her and wanted to take her in, so we did. The next morning she wanted out of the house in the worst way so I tried to explain to her that she didn't need to live outside anymore but I finally gave in and let her out - she came back about an hour later with a tiny kitten - looked like a puffball. She did this 3 times to the delight of my kids! Each one claimed a kitten as their own and then we had a housefull of animals. We already had a dog, another cat, a parakeet, and a hamster.
That was about 15 years ago - now we are down to 3 animals - one cat (another stray), a small dog, and a cockateil (who was moved in the day my dd moved out to her own house). The cockateil was on our roof whistling at my dh, ds, and me and flew down to my ds' shoulder and it's been here since - 3 years!
Now all the kids have grown and moved out and the animals are still here!

Oh yeah...many times! I have quite a reputation with friends and neighbors! Last weekend DD and friends found a baby snake in our backyard at a sleepover. The next day one of the girl's Moms emailed me and said that her husband wanted to know if I had caught the baby snake and taken it to my garage and fed it? I have a cat door in the garage which my one eyed rescued kitty uses...as well as a baby opossum and many raccoons and squirrels! They all seem to LOVE and thrive on Cat Chow (which I buy in 20 lb. bags)!! :)

Many many animals when I was younger. My Mom's friend brought over a Duck that had a fishing lure caught on his tongue. My Mom took a pair of plyers and Pulled it out! We than brought the Duck back to the canal he was rescued from. Also, a Lizard, many cats, and since I am an Adult and my kids were younger, we adopted a Pit Bull Mix, from the middle of a busy street, but could not keep him.:( Also, a Basset Hound, that had a tatoo of the owner on his Belly!;) Since then, I have Miss Tiggie who was a litter of 5. A calico cat followed my DS home one day, and she was PREGGERS!  Nothing much since than, thank goodness.:o ;)

Every cat I've had has been from the shelter or abandoned in some way. I've tried to save any animals that I see in trouble.
