Last year I bought my kids Easter outfits at the Childrens Place. Between DS and DD I spent almost $100.00. How much did they wear them after Easter? DS probably once and DD's dress was frilly blue so she actually wore it to CRT at WDW last September.

This year I'm thinking of just getting them clothes at Wal-Mart. Their Easter outfits are cute. What does everyone think? Do you spend alot on your kids holiday clothes?

I usually go to one of the nicer consignment shops in town and buy a like-new outfit for around $15.00, from someone who probably paid much, much more. I do this at Christmas time too. I used to buy my girls dresses on ebay.

I try not to spend too much on them since they will only get worn a couple times, maybe. I did get a dress from Wooden Soldier for DD for Christmas this year thinking that it would probably be the last year I could get away with her wanting a frilly Christmas dress. Well, she got sick on Christmas Eve day and missed Mass and still hasn't worn the dress. I am hoping it will fit next year. I can usually find dresses on sale at Macy's, Kohl's, etc for under $30 but not this year. The boys are easy, I usually just get a light colored dress shirt, they already have dress pants.

princess: when dd12 was little we always got her a dress from Penneys, Famous Barr, etc. a new purse, gloves and hat. now that she's12 we try to find a nice spring skirt/top set or dress. she found at Christmas a nice girly dress and wanted it so we bought it figuring it was the last year for something like that. I'd say 50.00+ I will add that these dresses do end up at the cosignment shop....and I do look there for outfits also. I would get something from wal-mart they have some cute dresses. :thumbsup2

I buy the holiday outfits for my niece and nephew, so I will chime in. For my niece, I buy from one of the major department stores, usually lord and taylor or macys, but I wait until the dresses go on sale for 40%-60% off, and also use a coupon if I have one. I think I paid $25 or so for her christmas dress. I also gambled and got her easter dress at the same time, because I found a beautiful pink silk dress that I thought would be great for easter, and it was on super sale. It's a size larger than her christmas dress, but I figure if it doesn't fit this year, I will save it for next year.

My nephew, on the other hand, I have a hard time finding nice outfits for. It seems that they don't make as many choices for little boys. It's either jeans or Ralph Lauren! I end up spending more on him initially, but he is able to use the same pants for chistmas and easter--I usually buy him a sweater for the christmas outfit, and just get him a new shirt for easter. I try and find things that are nice but still comfortable--I don't ever get him suits--I think he would have a fit!

I get the boys' dress pants at Nordstrom. They are wonderful pants, nice looking, come in SLIM, are machine washable and don't need to be ironed if you get the out of the dryer right away  , and are around $30. I usually get 3 or 4 pair in different colors and the boys wear the same size so they share. They wear them to church each week so we get a lot of use out of them. I usually get a white dress shirt and a colored dress shirt and a tie for each shirt.

Last year I bought DD's dress at Costco, along with the Easter ham. Gotta love that 1 stop shopping :rotfl2: . The dress cost $15 and it was beautiful. She did wear it several times after Easter but that's because I didn't care if it got ruined. A $75 dress I'd care.

This year she saw this poofy pink dress at Target and fell in love with it  . So, it's now hanging in her closet. It set me back $19. I figure I'll need to get her shoes and a hat but will probably get those at Target as well. Once Easter is over she's free to wear the stuff whenever she likes.

Since I inspired it, I will answer it too. BTW, I love seeing my name up there as having inspired something, even if it is only another thread on the CB! Closest I'll get to my 15 minutes of fame. LOL  :teeth:

Well, since I have 4 kids I have to look for sales. No doubt about it. JCPenney is where I usually shop in this area. If I wait till it's closer to Easter than I can usually get a nice dress for under $30 for each girl. I get the hats and gloves at Target or Wal-mart where they are cheaper.

My son has a nice pair of khakis already so I'll probably just get him a new dress shirt.

FYI, after Easter is a good time to get deals on those fancy dresses. Last year about 4 weeks after Easter JCPenney had a clearance and I got dresses that were over $40 for under $10!!!! :hyper: Gotta love a deal like that. And my girls wear them to church so they came in handy.

As for buying the dress from Wal-mart, I say if it's cute, go for it. I am picky about the cuteness of my kids clothes, but not where they come from.
